Death Domain "Choreutoscope" CS
Jerkwave 015

Jerkwave Tapes brings you a cassette offering from Death Domain (Adam Stroupe of SIDS.) Taking Cold Wave and Minimal Synth aesthetics and helming a fucking RIDICULOUS collection of analog synthesizers, Death Domain floats to the top in an ever expanding ocean of one man bedroom synth/drum machine projects. With extensive knowledge of the old as well as the new DD gives a nod to Absolute Body Control with his cover of "Waving Hands." And others such as "A Sweater for the Cold War" and "Is It In My Blood?" drip with dark synth tones and pulsing rhythms. The final song "Untitled" also features Dead Luke on keys/guitar. Edition of 75 on pro duped cassettes.

Dead Luke C60
Jerkwave 014

Reissue of a 60 minute cassette originally released on Sky-Fi Industries last year and long sold out. New cover art on cherry red cassettes.

Review from Animal Psi,

"Dead Luke is in fact dead, announced last January. This self-titled cassette, released nearly a year ago, was until the announcement his only recorded document. It seems Luke is hungrier in zombification, as he has since released a slew of vinyl and plans for a wealth more. Familiar to the Sacred Bones scene/sound, and released by Florida?s Sky-Fi, the cassette?s thirteen tracks come needled with chintzy synthesizers and dipped in reverb, crashing with an Ariel Pink mad genius, though stuck in some wonderful limbo between painfully simple pop structures and the anti-structure of dark ambient neighbors like Hive Mind and Burial Hex. Drum machines ramble in every direction, and in every configuration; guitars come and go, seemingly tuned then set back down; basslines dread into a funk then relax into broad, warped whir. Vocals are effected until indecipherable, rendering abstract and often obtuse the themes of titles like ?The Thermostat Has Shorted Out?, ?Night Of The Zodiac?, and ?Oh God Make It Stop? - to be read entirely against the music, an often steely gothic of organs, sermoned mutterings, and other loose hairs of modern Americana trash. Strangely it works like magic. Call it ?bright nihilism?."

Psychedelic Horseshit "Magic Flowers Dubbed" CS
Jerkwave 013

A reissue of the ridiculously limited and ridiculously awesome cassette originally released by the UK's great Bum Tapes label. This cassette (originally an edition of 40) brings you more of Psychedelic Horseshit's great and completely fucked pop stylings. Featuring the stomper "Catch a Wave" and the re-imagining of Magic Flowers Droned highlight, now titled "Rather Dub." The shining gem on this beaut though is the B-Side. A 10 minute excursion into a Matt Horseshit robotrip titled "Bob Dylan's 42nd Annual Report." Beginning with several minutes of outerspace drones that will pressurize your head, it leads to a quiet acoustic folky pop number recorded on top of the chaos. Probably one of my favorite things the Horseshit boys have ever released and now made widely(er) available in America. Edition of 125, pro duped on pink cassettes.

The Uzi Rash Group Band "Erotic Terror Beats the Drums of the Republic" CS
Jerkwave 012

While Psychedelic Horseshit operate in one end of the fucked pop spectrum, The Uzi Rash Group Band operate in a completely different type of color scheme. Lo-fi poppy songs that are seemingly upbeat yet have some sort of underlying quality that leaves you uneasy or possibly even creeped out a little bit. The opener "Belladonna" combines catchy chords with mumbled outsider vocals all meshed together that will put a smile on your face and turn your stomach simultaneously. The mood only continues from there. After dozens of listens I still can't put my finger on what gives me this feeling, all I know is that I'm completely hooked and can't wait to hear more from this band! Listen and then start all over again and repeat. It's a vicious cycle but this tape will be stuck in your head forever if you let it in. Edition of 75 on pro duped red cassettes. Artwork equally fucked up and hand colored by the band with seemingly no two alike!

Thought I would post this here since I'm not sure where Aurora Borealis advertises.

Zola Jesus side is all vocals by Zola Jesus and all music by Dead Luke

Heres what Aurora B says,

"Genre: horror electronics
Aurora Borealis is very proud to release this split LP by two of Wisconsin's finest exports, Burial Hex and Zola Jesus.
Burial Hex presents two works here, following up on the critically acclaimed Initiations CD and 2LP of 2008. The first track 'Go Crystal Tears' is the first outing for the new Burial Hex sound and highlights influences such as 80s horror synth master John Carpenter and Goblin coming to the fore and blending with the almost black metal vocal style and "horror electronics" so successfully developed on Initiations. The second track 'Temple of the Flood', clocking in at a more usual 14 and a half minutes, is one of the final old-style Burial Hex tracks and proceeds in a style reminiscent of previous works with heavily processed analogue electronics and synths up until around seven minutes in where things take an unexpected turn with eroding layers of primitive percussion, water drops, and almost Martin Denny-style exotica piano runs before ending in a deluge of sub bass and redemptive church organ.

Zola Jesus expands on the works presented on the 7 inch releases with a 19 minute track that blends all the trademark sounds of this young Madison genius. Nika (aka Zola Jesus) plays and writes all her own material, though is joined here by Dead Luke, who also plays as part of the Zola Jesus' live sound. Nika's voice, reminiscent of a teenage Diamanda Galas or a more deranged Beth Ditto, soars and wails within an ever changing cloud of pulsing synths and analogue electronics up until the eight minute mark where a naive electronic drum pattern kicks in and is joined by a warm synth line. For some minutes the track takes a tuneful No Wave turn before gradually shifting again into a darker and more menacing beast. This is stunning stuff - expect more from Zola Jesus on Aurora Borealis in the future."

Pink Noise "Menagerie" CSEP
Jerkwave 011

The Pink Noise returns with an EP's worth of new material on Jerkwave Tapes and we couldn't be more excited. His album "Dream Code" was one of the best things to land last year and this cassette proves that the hits just keep on coming! The 7 songs of "Menagerie" find Mr. Pink Noise seemingly becoming simultaneously more focused (as is shown on minute long punk-head-nod opener "Lips" and the demented reggae'd out "Wings of Love") and more out there (the atonal guitar blasts and drum freakout of "T. Rex" and the stumbling along synthy closer "Moonlight") All together one of the strongest, most freaky Pink Noise releases yet! Leaves you wanting more for sure. Edition of 75 on pro imprinted and dubbed pink tapes.

Just finalized the majority of the details for this so here it is!

After surviving a brutal Wisconsin winter, us at the Jerkwave offices have decide to let the warm months flow in with a summer long tape club that will feature mind melting psychedelic tapes from six different artists as well as bonus tapes, stickers, buttons and various other goods for members. Limited to 75 memberships!

Tape #1 will be a "bootleg" of the unheard Rahdunes album that was recorded in an empty warehouse on the west coast and as Aaron Coyes would say it totally "slays!" I believe this album is supposed to see eventual vinyl release from Ecstatic Yod sometime in the unknown future as well, but who knows when that will be.

Tape #2 - will be almost an hour long excursion from the Second Family Band. Drugged out slow burners and pounding psych feakouts!

Tape #3 - Ryan Garbes

Tape #4 - Varlet Tarsod

Tape #5 - Bone Patrol

Tape #6 - Peaking Lights

Tape #7 - Julian Lynch

Tape #8 - Robedoor

Full details will be sent out to members before each tape ships. And look for bonus goods and tapes in your packages too! First tape should ship by mid April and the club should wrap up by late July to early August. Let summer roll!

Jackson VanHorn CS20
Jerkwave 010

When Jackson VanHorn isn't playing drums for the TV Ghost franchise, he apparently spends his time recording dark and down folk songs in the strange land of Indiana. The results are sublimely stunning. 6 songs that span almost exactly 20 minutes and leave you wanting more! "Behind the Walls" kicks off the tape with a plodding lonesome guitar riff that takes you down to the depths to find Jackson's unique voice swirling around you at all times. The vibe only intensifies from there! There is an air of familiarity running through all these tunes yet they remain completely original at the same time. If you are not completely sucked in at first listen clean out your ears. This kid is coming out strong for sure! HIGHLY DIGGING IT! Edition of 75 on clear tapes.

"Absinthe Minds - "Rising Kulo Summit" b/w "Passage of the Wicked, River of Time" - (c23) - Mangled tape. lo-fi, mucked up, to close to the band, deck on the floor boards, picking up every vibration. every drop of the crowds sweat. this is a indie-reject hell. This is absinthe minds. Nice live recording from the new york tour jams. Looks like the boys took a little bit of the midwest along when they dropped this on NYC. Plains Indian Style. But Plains Indians ancestors back from the dead and pissed style. Upon arrival back in the home territories the Minds souls just kept heading west... God damn if the boys dont lay out a total fucking zombie SURF ROCK tune! Absinthe Minds stylee! For real so but dont be sceered! 45 copies on unholy white and bloody sunset red cassettes." -Earjerk

Dead Luke "The Black Plague in Mono No. 3" CS30
Jerkwave 005C
The third installment in the Black Plague in Mono series finds resident synth twiddler Dead Luke exploring a more psychedelic side of things. The synths are more or less still there, but now on some songs they are accompanied by psyched out washes of guitar, 60s-esque organ leads, and even a sitar. The song "Pills" begins as a quiet, dark, mumble-out and builds into a pounding raga like shredder! The song "Dusty Sweet" even features a performance from former Dead Hooker, Howlin' Trav, on vocals. Interesting things for sure in the year of dying Dead Luke.

The Elks "The Black Plague in Mono No. 4" CS30
Jerkwave 005D
Hanging Coffins member Cade returns on this cassette with his own demented project THE ELKS. Clocking in 18 songs in just under 30 minutes, The Elks assault you with seriously intense No Wave punk blasts only to creep you out in the next minute with strange, plodding, instrumentals, and one of the weirdest gospel songs I have ever heard. A must for any fans of the previous Hanging Coffins release or any No Wave enthusiast. Eugene, OR is definitely the town to watch!

Teepee "Voodoo" CS32
Jerkwave 009

Brand new tape from Floridian TEEPEE and Jerkwave's first release of 09! This is the second offering from the mysterious Teepee for the Jerkwave label and even more insane then the first! Killer tunes in a niche that he is carving all on his own. I can't think of anyway to describe it other than DRONEPUNK. 9 raw tunes that range from in your face to laid back and almost "pretty." From the ascending riff and sneering vocals of "Gina Enough" to the at times almost sitar-like guitar lines and drone of "The Taker" which are inversely represented by their counterparts such as the winded fidgety drum out "Mindanao" and warm flowing "Muwa." If you dug SS Norway you are going to love this, or if you missed the first one get on board with VOODOO! Also forthcoming singles on HoZac and Florida's Dying. Edition of 75, first 20 come with color covers.

A double cassette of two live shows recorded in October. Dark, pounding tribal rhythms collide with ethereal keys, psyched out guitar ripping, and haunted moans. Insane vocals throughout the B side of the 2nd cassette that will make your brain juices rotate!

This is available from Earjerk Records in an edition of about 25. Email earjerkorders AT yahoo.com to order. Make sure you can get one before you paypal!

Also check out some other killer stuff on that label too, Grass Magic LP and the Drunjus "Chainmail Future" CS are great.

Rodent Plague "Evacuations" Cassette
Jerkwave 006

Hot on the heels of a debut single on Kill Shaman Records, Jerkwave Tapes is pleased to offer this cassette from Rodent Plague! Erin (A Frames, Children's Hospital) turns in 5 songs of ethereal darkness and eastern tinged psyche outs. Each song more different than the last, the entire cassette takes on a dream like quality becoming more and more surreal. Scratchy, popping drum beats collide with distorted keyboards, that lead into swirling guitar drones and echoed out drum blasts and back again. Clocking in at just over 20 minutes with the same songs on both sides of the tape to reduce rewinding time. A must for fans of the recent Children's Hospital recordings and dreamy psyche a la Blues Control. Edition of 75 on gray cassettes with fold out artwork.
