Dead Luke C60
Jerkwave 014

Reissue of a 60 minute cassette originally released on Sky-Fi Industries last year and long sold out. New cover art on cherry red cassettes.

Review from Animal Psi,

"Dead Luke is in fact dead, announced last January. This self-titled cassette, released nearly a year ago, was until the announcement his only recorded document. It seems Luke is hungrier in zombification, as he has since released a slew of vinyl and plans for a wealth more. Familiar to the Sacred Bones scene/sound, and released by Florida?s Sky-Fi, the cassette?s thirteen tracks come needled with chintzy synthesizers and dipped in reverb, crashing with an Ariel Pink mad genius, though stuck in some wonderful limbo between painfully simple pop structures and the anti-structure of dark ambient neighbors like Hive Mind and Burial Hex. Drum machines ramble in every direction, and in every configuration; guitars come and go, seemingly tuned then set back down; basslines dread into a funk then relax into broad, warped whir. Vocals are effected until indecipherable, rendering abstract and often obtuse the themes of titles like ?The Thermostat Has Shorted Out?, ?Night Of The Zodiac?, and ?Oh God Make It Stop? - to be read entirely against the music, an often steely gothic of organs, sermoned mutterings, and other loose hairs of modern Americana trash. Strangely it works like magic. Call it ?bright nihilism?."

Psychedelic Horseshit "Magic Flowers Dubbed" CS
Jerkwave 013

A reissue of the ridiculously limited and ridiculously awesome cassette originally released by the UK's great Bum Tapes label. This cassette (originally an edition of 40) brings you more of Psychedelic Horseshit's great and completely fucked pop stylings. Featuring the stomper "Catch a Wave" and the re-imagining of Magic Flowers Droned highlight, now titled "Rather Dub." The shining gem on this beaut though is the B-Side. A 10 minute excursion into a Matt Horseshit robotrip titled "Bob Dylan's 42nd Annual Report." Beginning with several minutes of outerspace drones that will pressurize your head, it leads to a quiet acoustic folky pop number recorded on top of the chaos. Probably one of my favorite things the Horseshit boys have ever released and now made widely(er) available in America. Edition of 125, pro duped on pink cassettes.

The Uzi Rash Group Band "Erotic Terror Beats the Drums of the Republic" CS
Jerkwave 012

While Psychedelic Horseshit operate in one end of the fucked pop spectrum, The Uzi Rash Group Band operate in a completely different type of color scheme. Lo-fi poppy songs that are seemingly upbeat yet have some sort of underlying quality that leaves you uneasy or possibly even creeped out a little bit. The opener "Belladonna" combines catchy chords with mumbled outsider vocals all meshed together that will put a smile on your face and turn your stomach simultaneously. The mood only continues from there. After dozens of listens I still can't put my finger on what gives me this feeling, all I know is that I'm completely hooked and can't wait to hear more from this band! Listen and then start all over again and repeat. It's a vicious cycle but this tape will be stuck in your head forever if you let it in. Edition of 75 on pro duped red cassettes. Artwork equally fucked up and hand colored by the band with seemingly no two alike!

Dunebuggy tape is super rad. Total 60s garage pop vibe and has a great cover of Wild Thing and Louie Louie done at the same time.

Looks like all the descriptions are messed up. I'm sure Shawn will fix it soon though.

It's essentially like if they were Led Zeppelin and they skipped I-III and went straight to IV.

Was watching one of those daytime judge shows and the defendant's name was George Michael Bolton.

Listening to,

Kurt Vile - Hunchback 12"
Os Muntantes - LP
Julian Lynch/Ducktails - 7" Test Press
The Upsetters - Return of the Super Ape

Wish I was Listening to,

The Electric Bunnies LP. Heard some of it this weekend and was completely blown away after being somewhat on the fence after the singles. Rules!

The a-side of TV Ghost's new CDR single is probably the hottest thing they've done.  Totally great.

Nerve City 10" continues to grow on me.  Awful lotta tape hiss / noise on these recordings, considering how stripped down the band is.  It's a good sound.  Also sounds interesting on 33.

re: TV Ghost - definitely agree.

re: Nerve City - It took me 'til the third song to realize that it was supposed to be played at 45.  "I don't remember his voice sounding this low on the tapes."

Also confusing that that Nerve City 10" is Kill Shaman #33. You just see the big 33 on the label and go from there.

Mine made it to me in New Zealand yesterday. Haven't even listened to them yet, but both are a real piece of eye candy. Yum.

Whoa! You're the one in New Zealand! Say hello to my brother if you run into him!
