triage, while it is cool that he explained the economics and how they integrate into these situations, the labels and distros and all these bands aren't liars either. sometimes its just a response to somebody too. like on that pink reason thread, i thought kevin was pretty right on. its hard to do this. people think we're all safe, can make money, or are flat out rich or something, but nobody is.

it's just nice to be reminded how much work goes into producing a record. too often, we kids get all huffy 'cause of the rising price of vinyl, but don't stop to consider the process. frankly, i think it's symptomatic of the fact that alternate mediums or larger pressings are more easily accessible and the folks who buy the music have grown accustomed to getting what they want when they want it. there should be real effort invested in finding music worth buying and coughing up the money to buy it. when you get spoiled, when everything you want is at your fingertips, you start to complain about inane shit like how much a 7" costs.
