I'd like to see a SSoriano Master Class.

triage, while it is cool that he explained the economics and how they integrate into these situations, the labels and distros and all these bands aren't liars either.  sometimes its just a response to somebody too.  like on that pink reason thread, i thought kevin was pretty right on.  its hard to do this.  people think we're all safe, can make money, or are flat out rich or something, but nobody is.

pretty sure i wasn't calling anyone a liar.

it's just nice to be reminded how much work goes into producing a record. too often, we kids get all huffy 'cause of the rising price of vinyl, but don't stop to consider the process. frankly, i think it's symptomatic of the fact that alternate mediums or larger pressings are more easily accessible and the folks who buy the music have grown accustomed to getting what they want when they want it. there should be real effort invested in finding music worth buying and coughing up the money to buy it. when you get spoiled, when everything you want is at your fingertips, you start to complain about inane shit like how much a 7" costs.

Music Shit / Re: Chicago Termbros: Prepare to fucking laugh

Stumbled upon this on youtube. Made me laugh to no end. Can't even imagine the same thing happening nowadays. Maybe HoZac can turn that around?

It's gonna take more than just HoZac to make Wrigleyville cool.

this is exactly the kind of discussion we need here. there's have been far too many shouting matches (check out the vivian girls and pink reason thread under new releases. everyone is so bitter) about the rising cost of records. consumers griping about $8 singles, bands stretched thin with touring and pressing, it's a mess.

thanks to scott for the wealth of information. it lets us poverty stricken record collectors pause for reflection before taking swipes at the bands, labels, and distros.
