we sell CD's maybe its 'cause we're "pop punk" but kunaki pumps those bitches out dirt cheap no minimum order, and theyre full color printing, shrink wrapped retail ready for less than $2.50 each incl. shipping, i order 5 at a time usually.

we do pretty good business on bandcamp as well.  you'd be surprised how many people are willing to cough up $40 for a download of our full discography.

If you don't have a tape player in your vehicle, yer slippin'. How else are you going play stuff off your phone/pono?

bluetooth or aux in.  i have one of the cheapest modern car stereos and it has both (and a CD player, USB)

When I shit on CD's, I'm talking about my personal preferences as a consumer. From the perspective of a BAND? If you're touring, make CD's 100%. Anyone on the road regularly knows they still sell - they never really stopped. They cost nothing to make and you'd be surprised how often they move. Any region, too (especially Japan/parts of Europe). Not from a store/distributor necessarily, but from random people at your gig who might just be curious and don't buy records.

By the way, "CD CULTURE" will be a thing by 2020 or so. There are TONS of outstanding cd only releases from 1990-2010ish that are collecting dust in the cheap-o bins RIGHT NOW. Buy low, sell high and get ahead of the curve.

Abso-fucking-lutely.  I don't know about the culture part, but CDs are the best music value right now - vinyl is out of control.  If music formats were real estate, vinyl would be San Francisco and CDs would be Dogfuck, Alabama.

We're already there. There's tons of discs that will get same the dollar amount online as some KBD records, for example. Lots of music form the 90's that was only released on CD. That said, it's only ever going to be niche collecting on a small scale. Just compare vinyl to cassette collecting. In the end, people will buy something rare, and that's about it.

But "CD Culture" as in people consuming new CD's like the are for vinyl now (and to a lesser degree cassette)? Obviously no one knows, but I sure as shit wouldn't bet on it. CD's don't have a faction of the perks that the other formats do and are far too complicated/specific for no gain. Not to mention, the way people listen to music isn't two-dimensional anymore. The long term effects of streaming has yet to be seen.

Look, have fun- I don't want to be a wet blanket, but if you are looking for a cheap way to release a physical copy of your demo you can still do it for pennies on the dollar with a cd-r. Sure cd-r's are fragile but so are cassettes. You can always back it up with a digital downloadable version.

I don't have a working tape deck, but I sure as shit don't have a working CD player either (other than in my car). My computer doesn't even have a disc drive. CD's of any kind are just as useless as tapes, and I'd much rather hang on to a tape than a CD. Personal preference, I guess.

I'm not so convinced it'll fizzle. It'll probably end up being what vinyl more or less was in the 90's and be genre specific. Punk/hc bands aren't going to stop, that's for sure. The rest, maybe... if they ever even started. They make sense: cheap and instantaneous to produce, accessible to everyone. Better than buying a fuckin' lollipop with a download code attached to it or whatever.

Go. Everything I've heard has been postive. Wouldn't be surprised if this was the final kick at the can, either. If my wife wasn't nine months pregnant I'd be at the Montreal show for sure. I haven't seen them since 2003, but it was incredible then (although it was mostly Grave Disorder stuff, which I didn't mind since that record is actually good).

Michl at Taken by Surpise in Munich is numero uno but he's really busy of late.

Pulled a bunch of old singles from the 2000's: Retainers, Wrists, that Feelers 7" on Contaminated etc. Getting nostalgic over here.

I like the single cutaway and that they're not as bulky (re: stupid) as the real LP's, plus the sound is decent. But if it's a Gibson, it's an SG only for me. I can't take a standard Les Paul seriously (you can thank Mike Ness and Slash).

Edit: You can get an American-made SG special for the same price, which I find are an equal or even better deal.

FYI reverse racism is a myth and a black person beating up a white person no matter what the reason would never be considered racism. While it's possible for a minority to be bigoted against white people, white people cannot experience racism.

Thank you.
