If Robo's not on drums I'm not going.

He was in the band recently again, until around 2011. Apparently his Columbian passport was causing "problems".

I always preferred the pre-Doyle, Bobby Steele-era style tunes the most. Obviously Doyle was part of the classic line-up, but the height of the band was the Horror Biz/NOTLD-single era, for me.

Pre youtube, I always wondered what the original "SHE" sounded like, because it was never properly reissued other than on the box set, and what kid was going to shell the cash for that.

Considering the GoFundMe page wasn't launched that long ago, I was pretty surprised to hear be succumbed so quickly. Huge bummer. I listened to GI when I was younger, but got back into them recently when I was originally supposed to see them on Halloween last year. I ended up missing it, but I wish I hadn't now.

"Original Line-Up" being referenced everywhere. Uh, no. Nice try, though.

I'd be just as excited for this as I would be for those Danzig "Legacy" shows (kind of excited, but not enough to travel out of town for it). The "Legacy" shows would at least have had some Samhain/Danzig 1&2 stuff in there, so I'd still probably rather see that.

I like the first album, not because I think it's great, but primarily because I liked that they weren't following trends so much as hitting their own groove. Dynamics and tension were actually involved. A commendable band, just not a very exciting one (for me).

I strongly recommend seeing them live. I never like watching a band play for longer the 30 minutes... pretty much ever, yet I was bummed out when they stopped playing. Even with the singer's unique/bizarre demeanor, they can be pretty intense in the flesh.

I mainly brought them up - regardless of their stature or size - because (to me) they should be up the alley of a lot of Termbros. Original, angular, post-punk-ish songs that are moody, yet a far cry from polished or mild in any way.

75 people at the Ottawa show. Sure, they're on a bigger indie, but they're leagues away even from Ty Segall level huge. This band could've been on ITR and no one would've flinched.

Revisiting both Protomartyr LP's after cathcing them live again last night. It's insane to me that some people can't get into this band.

About to materialize:

Whipper 7"

Our drummer is living in AU at the moment and just went on tour with these guys. Hadn't heard of them before but with that lineup I'm sure it's bound to be great.

Found the article I was referring to earlier in this thread. If you want an entertaining/quality read about RSD Canada, take a look at this:

People seem to be debating two separate things here: 1) the concept of a record store appreciation day and 2) RECORD STORE DAY(tm). Big difference.

Three of the four stores I spoke with regularly have shows and/or DJs regardless of RSD, I guess, so that's not a big deal for them specifically. I heard that it has lots of negative impact overall in terms of not being able to return stock, which is hard to predict and hard to curtail because people get so pissy if you don't stock XYZ. I heard that everyone has to work ridiculous hours leading up to it. I heard that they hate the customers who show up once a year. I heard that the staff gets pissy all around that date. I heard that the regulars skip stopping by around that time and tend to bitch about it. Didn't hear much positivity at all, though it's obvious that those instant collectibles bring in added revenue. The overall thought was anything positive is balanced by the negative weight. These places are fairly well-established and wouldn't exactly close their doors without it, and generally look at it as an unwanted intrusion by outside forces. But if some are happy, that's great. I definitely believe that it's at a tipping point and there will be a continued amount of stores jumping onto the negative side...and I think in the very near future many stores will refuse to participate.

Exactly. A store in Ottawa (the one which happen to move the most RSD product BY FAR; and, aside from it being the busiest day of the year, typically had a hard time breaking EVEN on RSD stock) was booted off the official RSD list and denied product because he criticized some of their policies online. If this isn't proof that the major have ruined it for good, I'm not sure what will be.

If someone could please post a link to the blog post about the Toronto store a couple years back that discovered all of the "officials" of RSD Canada turned out to be employees of Sunrise Records etc., I'd appreciate it, because I can't find it. It's by far the best example to be posted in this thread.

I'm sure RSD can still be positive for some stores, but not all are so lucky. I mean, $17.99 list price for a 7" that a store CAN'T RETURN sounds like a great deal, right?

The past few years I notice more & more RSD releases left in the bins after RSD has come & gone.  I have to think the RSD bubble is going to burst for record stores one of these days.  They can't keep tying up all their $$$ on dead overstock.

It's already started to happen, at least to some degree. Same goes for the annual pressing delays; turn-times are currently better than they have been in a couple years at minimum. Rumor has it that the majors have run out of back catalogs to repress. Apparently, all the major artists have been done and there's not even close to as much coming down the pipe as in recent years. Might not be good news for all these new plants that are about to open (but maybe good for the rest of us?). Far cry from a "vinyl bubble", but it does sound like things are slowing down.

This led me to discover that there's a repro of that Accidents single within the last year, which is awesome.

Yeah, I was going to ask if it was the same demo single that came out contemporary as Blood Visions or a new one.

Doesn't specify anywhere, but I'm going to assume it's the "Blood Demos" 7" on Stained Circles. An easy find - I had 5 when it came out. Not mention already included on the ITR comp 2xLP.

Marked Men maybe, but if so it would have only been one show or so. They did select overseas dates a few years back.

The Reds went to Japan, but that may have been it.
