Used Records For Sale/Auctions/Wantlists / Re: WTB: Midnight Mines LP

Great record, and it's actually not that much more expensive to order it from the UK.

Not a bad deal on a handful of recent singles.

How is this compared to Flex?

Totally different idea. Here's my write-up: https://instagram.com/p/BODtC0tgtNc/

Thanks, that was super helpful.  Going for it.

Midnight Mines -If You Can;t Find a Partner Use a Wooden Chair Lp - Excellent mix of the earlier, more instrumental and dubby tapes, and classic Black Time. I thought the tapes were okay, but SF Sorrow (Aka Lemmy Caution?) really got the formula right on the Lp. Most listened to record of the last week.

Just got this in the mail the other day and have listened to it at least three times since then.  The above assessment is pretty right on, though I haven't heard all the tapes that led up to this.  Perfect music for the dark and confusing times we're living in.

I've also been into a few other things:

Henry Badowski-Life Is A Grand
Hadn't ever heard of this until I read about it in an article where Captain Sensible was talking about his his favorite albums and mentioned himself and Badowski alongside Julian Cope, Dan Treacy and Robyn Hitchcock as some real Syd Barrett heads.  I did a bit of research and found a cheap copy on discogs so I took a chance.  I was a bit surprised at the Barrett reference as this is synth-poppy.  I'm not typically into synth-pop, but to my ears this leans closer to Eno than anything lame.  It's definitely a keeper and something I'll keep coming back to for a while.

FJ McMahon-Spirit of the Golden Juice
Sold some stuff on Discogs and got the repress of this for reasonably cheap and think it's a worthwhile purchase.  I'm more a listener than a collector, so expensive records need to be super re-playable and this definitely fits the bill.  A lot of hyped singer songwriter stuff ends up being sub-Croce bullshit, but this gem really does the trick.

I subscribed to the Billy Childish etc. record reissue series when it was first announced, and all those releases were pretty significantly delayed.  (These delays were explained to me as being due to pressing plant backups, which seemed reasonable enough. However, I'm still waiting on a final delivery of "goodies", though maybe that was cancelled.)  When dude said he was reissuing the Comet Gain reissues, I drunkenly hit the "buy" button only to awake to a hangover spiced with a bit of regret.  It seems this was well placed, as those records have also been delayed.  I was excited to hear about the Wildfire reissue but emailed Brett first to check in on the process, as I was (I think) understandably skeptical about giving him any more of my money.  He never responded, and I actually re-sent the email a few weeks later in an attempt to get a reply.  Since I still haven't gotten one I can only speculate, but my guess dude is having some serious ongoing cash flow issues.  Has anyone gotten that new Vexx record?

Yea, I too subscribed to the Billy Childish series, and thats what I've been having issues with. Still have not received the final record in the series, the 1982 cassettes LP. Have been emailing him since September to get this resolved. Told me a while back he'd send me the record plus extra lps for my troubles, and have yet to receive any of that or have heard anything since after numerous more emails I've sent. My girlfriend also ordered from him when they had done the sale for equal pay for women(I think it was)  and she was shorted a record which took her weeks and constant emails to get. I also ordered the kleenex book, which took me close to 4-5 weeks to receive, after I sent numerous emails inquiring about the status.I feel like I have to constantly stay on them for any order I place. Haven't put much hope into receiving the remaining FWOAH bonus items, also will be surprised if I receive Comet Gain pre-orders without going through any trouble, other than the aforementioned record plant delay.

Not sure why I bother anymore.

Oh shit, was the 1982 Cassettes part of that?  I didn't get that either.

I have emailed brett and other emails about an order they never sent and they will not respond. They do however send an email out trying to get me to buy more records about every week. I would avoid ordering anything from them.

I'm having the same issue, been ongoing for a few months now, but this is not my first time having issues with this label.

I don't think we're alone in this either.

If you're interested in saving money, I  think Forced Exposure has a 15% off sale this weekend.

Music Shit / Re: Help with good underground prog recommendations

Aleksandr Gradsky is perhaps the first Soviet/Russian rock musician. His work goes all over the place, including some experimental electronic stuff that wouldn't sound out of place on some DIY cassette release right now or something. Here's a track off an album that collects some of his earlier recorded works, though might be splitting hairs on whether this is "prog" or just "art rock" but definitely has some super proggy parts:

Picked that record up blindly about a year ago and can't recommend it enough.

Finally ordered this a few weeks ago and have been slowly digesting it with breakfast ever since.  There's plenty in here for anyone on this board to enjoy, and I really hope there's a second volume.

Numero just put all their Bedhead reissues up on sale.  The box is only $50 and all the LPs are $10.

Couldn't even sell 2000 copies of the thing...can't say I'm shocked.

Agreed, though that doesn't mean it isn't worth owning.  They put the Nikki Sudden box on crazy markdown a few months ago and I picked it up for around $50 as well.  I'd be curious to see how all the Unwound boxes are selling, as that seemed like a much bigger undertaking.   Either way, stoked on how well Numero does reissues and really appreciate them putting stuff on sale.
