Non-Music Shit / Re: what are you reading?

Less well-known, but in my opinion even better than Story of the Eye, is the Impossible.  It's a great mix of fiction, poetry, and commentary.  The novella part is not nearly as explicit or shocking as Story of the Eye or de Sade but is great in a totally different way.  The plot is pretty vague/mysterious but basically about the philosophy of sexual pursuit, jealousy, etc.  Got a lot of really classic lines, and it's a completely different side of Bataille than Story of the Eye.

thank you for the suggestion.  i actually tried finding books by him last semester at my university but nothing came up.  college libraries rule mostly, but it seems they lack a lot of crucial stuff (couldn't find any breton even!)
Which Breton?  If you're looking for Nadja, you might be better off without it.  Major disappointment.

A friend borrowed my OG of Green Dream like six months ago.  Need that shit back but he's out of town.  Can't believe I never got to see them live.

EDIT:  After looking at the Dave's bottle before posting, I apparently rubbed my upper eyelid and now its BURNING LIKE FUCK.  Reminds me of the time I woke up to a searing coin purse -- I had been cutting Jalapenos earlier that night, and the nasty death oils had made their way to my balls.  I was up late that night looking up home remedies, I'll tell you what!  FYI: NOTHING WORKED.

PS.  I even tried bleach, YOW!
This happened to me twice when I was working at a restaurant and took a piss right after making salsa.  The second time was even worse because it came with the sting of feeling retarded and knowing I should've learned my lesson.

A similar incident gave me my username.

I must not be a snack aficionado because I have never heard of Snyder of Berlin.  Snyder's of Hanover has never done me wrong, though.

The Gift by Nabokov, which has so far been Nab ripping on all the literature/art he hates with not a whole lot of plot to speak of.  Hopefully it'll pick up soon.

Also recently read Solaris by Lem, which was incredible and vastly different from the Tarkovsky film.  I've never seen the remake with George Clooney. Is it any good?

Has anyone heard those new/unreleased Mirrors songs?  How are they?

Huge beards have been indie dude fashion for at least a couple years.

Definitely agree with Deadly Snakes - that last album never got the recognition it deserved.  Not very TB-ish either, but the Hot Snakes never got their due.  I never get tired of Audit in Progress.

Pizza is probably better for dogs than most commercial dog foods.

I've been meaning to read Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Second favorite Vonnegut behind Mother Night. You'll pick it up and be done with it in a couple hours before you know it.
Yeah, Mother Night is definitely my favorite Vonnegut, and Cat's Cradle probably behind that.  Thought his dick-jokes-and-anti-war stuff (Breakfast of Champions, Slaughterhouse Five, etc) was the greatest ever when I was fifteen, but it doesn't really hold up for me anymore.  Mother Night is a real kick in the gut, though.

Speaking of shirts, did anyone see that yellow knife-to-the-neck shirt that sold on eBay for 30 dollars?  Doesn't he still sell those at shows?  He did when I saw him.  Ridic.

My sister accidentally grew a couple small plants a few years ago by dumping all her seeds and roaches behind the garage.

Also: Pineapple Express, next Friday.  Getting blazed as all hell.
