And the vinyl is very dark see through brownish - does that mean anything, or were they all like that? Scum stats please?

That's just the bottom-of-the-barrel quality vinyl that United Record Pressing was notorious for using back then. Probably 75% of my mid-90s singles are like this.

Music Shit / Rhode Island gets ripped
« on: March 08, 2012, 09:56:40 AM »
Well, what began last year as a harmless and relatively easy quest to pick up the half dozen or so worthwhile 60s garage 45s from my home state of Rhode Island naturally spiraled out of control. Grab a hot weenah and a cawfee milk and check it out:

Mint sleeve and vinyl, unplayed (til I just ripped it for these mp3s) copy of Boulevard "Extended Pop" 5-song EP. Great Chicago powerpop. I had a handful of these a few years ago, which all sold within days, and this is the last one that I hung onto. It is uncomped and not reissued/booted, so the original wax is the only way to hear this on yer turntable! Three of the five tunes are below:

Price is $300. Email JayLitch@cox.net or send me a bm pm.

I can post mp3s tonight. It's good, not great, shouldn't even top $100...that auction was I think noiselord and apparently someone very desperate battling it out.

Hmm, I don't recall that sleeveless stash in the 90s at all. (Maybe from the Whiplash guy?) The original PS is a printed sleeve, not xerox.

Cartoons - Counting Chuck's H2D copy, I know of eight copies. I'm guessing a lot of people just don't know this one, or how rare it really is. If there were sound clips it probably would have gone quite a bit higher.

Sinatras - Nick Smith ("krvitz") sold one on ebay a few years back for $600+, and I think there might have been another one at some point too.

Do we even deserve this?

ALL 54 ISSUES of Rock Scene mag from 1974-82, scanned and available in flipbook style hi-teckery. From the platinum cover boy pinups to the punk-era hopefuls languishing in the back-of-the-book "New Bands" section (Malpractice/Jabbers, O.Rex, Freestone, Max Load, etc.), there's enough tasty pages here to get your unproductive web-browsing ass fired before you even reach 1977.

Go!

He has sleveless copies of the Headaches 7" if anybody is looking for it (which you should be).

Wonder if he still has the freshly minted silkscreened sleeves (passed off as OG) from 7-8 years ago in which the toxic fumes almost caused Ryebread and I to pass out upon opening our respective packages. Luckily he was cool when called out on it...refunded the dough and told us to keep the wax.

In case anybody is totally fucking bored:

Gary Valentine - The First One / Tomorrow Belongs To You 45

Just got in a version w/ insert and it is a styrene pressing with the typical raised/bumpy type on the labels. Says "published by Jiru Music" under the songwriting credit. My other copy had no insert and is on regular vinyl w/ regular labels. No mention of Jiru Music.

I assume the styrene pressing is "the first one"? Har.
