Dumb, perhaps. But luckily, it isn't all that good of a cover.  I listened to it once, and can't imagine ever doing so again.  The only memorable aspect of it were these little synthy sounds during the chorus.  Meh.

Not in the best of shape, but certainly one of the best Euro glitter 45s out there.  I still need 'Hit The Big Time' to complete the holy trinity of Catapult 45s.

Never heard that.  That'd make some good party music.  Or karaoke.  Plus, that one guy's blonde hair is amazing.

got my 1st press mono copy at salvation army for $1 the day before i left nyc for harrisburg!

That's a great score.  I have four copies of that record, two of which are the the orig. "crownless" mono.  This dude who was selling his punk collection recently gave me one for free because I bought around $200 worth of stuff from him.  I don't think he even knew it was anything special.  Both of my copies are a little beat, but I don't care.  Those old records are such damn thick slabs that you have really gouge into them to have that significant of an effect on the sound.  Clean 'em up on a Nitty Gritty or something similar, and you're good to go.  Motherfucking Night Train.

That is really nice.  It looks like an actual record store.  Glad to see another vintage Marantz user, too.  Is anyone else really selective about which records are at the front of the crate/box/row, i.e., in full public view?  I know I am, even though that might be a lame thing to worry about.  For me, it's a rotating cast except for the Contortions' "Buy".  I always keep that shit right up there in the front.

Granted Jerry Lee Lewis "Live at the Star Club" would fight it out with the Sam Cooke one.

TOP THREE for me...I love it...for sentimental reasons

I need that on vinyl.  Badly.  There was one on eBay a while back that I missed out on. It ended at around midnight on a Fri. and I was gonna snipe it, but I ended up getting so wasted that I forgot to bid until an hour after it was over.  It sold for $4.99.  Fuck.  I'm still pissed about that, now that I think about it.

And while we're at it, you cannot forget the inimitable:

A ruckus.  A riot. Fucking insane.  People cumming in their pants, girls and guys alike.

Sam and Dave are pretty great, fo sho.  Something about mid- to late-summer afternoons always has me digging out the soul records.  Two days ago, it was Sam Cooke's "Live at the Harlem Square Club, 1963."  Now that's the shit right there.  Yep.  Off the motherfucking chain (gang).  Shit makes me wanna cry and have sex at the same time.  It also makes me feel like my guts are about to explode out of my abdomen.  'Cause they get all swollen with emotions and stuff.

That sounds like some good shit.  I'm gonna get that one.

Non-Music Shit / Re: What do you sing at the Karaoke?

I've only done it once, hammered-as-fuck, and I sang Dead Milkmen's "Punk Rock Girl."  I was poring through that damn book trying to find the "least uncool" one, which as erico says, was the totally wrong idea.  If I ever do it again, I'd like to sing:

Paul Anka - "(You're) Having My Baby."
Journey - "Separate Ways (World's Apart)"
REO Speedwagon - "Take It on the Run"
A duet by Captain and Tennille

I think you'd probably be OK.  I seriously doubt the dogs are trained to smell that kind of stuff, and even if they did check your bag randomly, you'd probably be fine as long as they're in the right bottle (though I confess that I'm really not familiar with the law; do you actually need the piece of paper with you, too?  That'd be worth researching).

Another option, if you just feel too sketchy, is to just mail it.  I mailed several bottles of absinthe home to the US from Prague once, and it worked just fine.  They were actually waiting for me at the post office when I got home, and I just picked 'em up.

Non-Music Shit / Re: SALT
« on: July 30, 2008, 05:14:02 AM »
In my opinion, there are really only two food groups: sweet and salty. As for which one is tastier in general, well, it's not even a contest--salt destroys.  Even if you eat something sweet, you have to eat something salty right afterwards to get that post-sugar bacterial taste out of your mouth.  I think the bacteria eat the excess sugar and then breed in your mouth, which then gets all sulfurous and nasty. I always have to eat a few saltines after eating ice cream or something.  Few tastes are worse than when something sweet and dairy-based rots in your mouth for a couple hours.  My wife and I call that "dairy mouth."  Salt not only cures dairy mouth--it provides an alternative snack flavor that would have prevented it in the first place.

Music Shit / Re: punk covers of 60s songs
« on: July 29, 2008, 03:25:23 PM »

I think it depends on the song.  Which ones are you thinking of?

I agree.  And the rendition.  Personally, I like the Devil Dogs' cover of "Palisades Park."  These others, not quite so much, but I wouldn't say that I'm puking all over the keyboard while listening to 'em either.  And I'm definitely not saying that any of them are as good as the original, but fuck, it's just such a genius pop construction that it's hard for me not to like every version of it at least a little. Also: I totally prefer the Ramones' version of "Do You Wanna Dance" to Bobby Freeman's orig.  I think I know what you're saying, though.  There are a lot of pretty lame 60's punk covers out there.

This record is seriously the best!!  Awesome, awesome, AWESOME!!!

Yup.  LP of the motherfucking year thus far, in my opinion.

Non-Music Shit / Re: Best Frozen Pizza
« on: July 29, 2008, 08:03:32 AM »
Freschetta Rising Crust is too doughy for me so I get the Brick Oven pepperoni and it's awesome.

I get that kind almost every time.  For some reason, the picture on that box looks a lot more delicious than the ones on all the other boxes.  I don't have a box on hand right now to verify, but I think it's because it's really greasy-looking and has a bunch of spicy-looking stuff sprinkled on it.  The actual pizza doesn't have this spice, unfortunately, but it's still really good. I know I'm just being tricked by advertising firms, but I sitll can't help taking the pizza picture on the box into consideration when making my selection.  If the cheese looks all rubbery, there's no way I'm buying it, no matter how cheap it is or how hungry I am.

I'm not a big fan of DiGiornio's.  I think their pepperonis are weird.  It's like they're gamy or something.
