I've wrote about how much I like this tape before, but I'm going to say again how great these songs sound.

The show in Oberlin is probably at the Dionysus Club which is known as the "Sco".  It's actually a great basement-like room with a stage, right in the middle of campus.  They have a little bar and serve beer in the back. Saw Gris Gris and Black Lips shows there a few years back and both were fantastic, and the kids get into it.

The Feve is a pretty cool bar within walking distance.

Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman's kid goes to school there.

During the winter months in OH, I've found that it's very easy to slide a bottle of Cholula up your sleeve at the grocery store.  Shit's like $4. First thing I've stolen since 1991 when Monaca, PA got a Walmart and the baseball card section was in a remote corner.

USB only

Can you use an interface that is USB 2.0 if you don't have 2.0?

Can anyone recommend one of these:

Edirol UA-4FX
Line 6 Pod UX2
Tascam US-144
M-Audio Fast Track Pro

thanks

Odditty.  As mentioned above though, the chords in the chorus change on most of these songs, even louie louie. Odditty wasn't a hit either.

There was a bush song that was a huge hit that had one part

I've listened to about half of this and it is fantastic.  Especially loving the Nerve City track.

New Releases For Sale/Distro Updates / Re: Hozac Singles Club...
« on: March 27, 2009, 04:54:44 PM »
mine showed up today, although I couldn't afford the singles club so I grabbed them from the bands.

for some reason, i was way more into the woven bones myspace tracks than this single. maybe my stereo is just garbage.

really liking the dum dum girls record, better than anything else i've heard from her.  wanted to pick up the mayfair set record at the show in Pittsburgh, but there were so many terrible smelling dudes and hipster grandmas in line that i bolted.

anyone else's dum dum girls record numbered?  mine says 31/75 on the back cover in pen, but I don't notice any difference from the pictures i've seen of the record.

there's a "sickly put together" blog that has the entire mexican summer LP up for download right now.  lots of fingerpicked acoustic guitar on this one. couldn't rationalize spending 20 on it.  What's the hunchback record sound like?

Ugh, you must be having some wicked nightmares.

I guess if you move to Brooklyn, you'll be one more terminal fuckface wandering the streets. Yeehaw.

horrible nightmares, and Braid and Fugazi songs play over and over during each of them.

I can't tell if your second comment is positive or negative.

Non-Music Shit / Moving to your city
« on: March 27, 2009, 11:33:50 AM »
So I made one last attempt at finding a job in Cleveland, had the interview last Friday, and got the call today that they "decided to hire a girl instead".  I've been living here for almost a decade, and I have to give up my apartment and move elsewhere within the next two weeks.  I'm really nervous about it since I have no car, no savings, and a ton of shit to store.

I managed a wine bar here for about a year, it closed a few months back so I receive an unemployment check once a week that will continue for about 4 more months. Problem is, the unemployment doesn't cover all of my bills, so each month I stay here I accrue more and more debt.

I've spoken to a bunch of friends that live around the country, and I have a few options as to where I can stay for awhile, but I'm looking for some opinions on these cities as I've never been to a few of them:

Denver - college roommate has a house that he lives in alone, half a mile from downtown.  I've never been to CO to visit him, and it seems like most bands skip over the city when touring. It also seems like Denver is about a thousand miles from anything else remotely interesting to me.

Ft. Lauderdale/Boca Raton - my cousin just split with her husband and moved here from Pittsburgh.  I'd have my own room in an apartment 8 blocks from the beach.  She works in a cool little pizza place with about 10 cute single girls that are my age, and I've already been promised a bartending gig.  I've read a lot about the south florida music/art scene being huge right now, but this is pretty far away from all of that right?

Brooklyn - my best friend from grade school lives here, i've been out to visit him probably 5 times in the last 3 years.  He lives in a pretty fucking snobby/trendy area (31st st. and 3rd ave. if I remember correctly) right near prospect park.  I talked to him about it last night, I'd have a free place to stay until the end of the summer.  Problem is, his place is tiny, I'd be staying in his living room on the couch/bed and could only bring a duffle bag of clothes and that's pretty much it.  Another problem, dude's been in nyc for almost 4 years now and has made like zero friends, i could really see him sitting around in the apartment all summer, seriously impeding my masturbation schedule.

Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.  Is it possible to find under-the-table work in Brooklyn (so as to keep my unemployment)? Is Denver a cool town if you hate hippies?  Is Florida really all that bad?  Will you be my friend?

Look for a "for sale" thread coming soon from me, as I'm going to need some extra cash to store all my junk.  All new-ish releases that everyone will give me shit about selling for profit.
