The "ban blahblahblah" thing is an old joke, for fucksakes!

I think that people argue about almost everything here. Pretty much all the bands Matt said were "hyped" just had long threads because most were making fun of them.

I know you weren't serious, it was used to illustrate my point, because I have seen shit like that written on here (not by you) when someone with a low post count tries to voice his/her opinion against the masses.

I agree with your second point, and I realize that half the Wavves thread is Arturo posting dog pictures and what not, but again, no publicity is bad publicity.

15 year old kid: "This Rusted Shut record looks awesome and the tracks on myspace are rad, I think I'm gonna paypal for it.  Wait, the Vivian Girls thread has 90 pages, sure 75% is people hating on the band, and there sure are a lot of vagina jokes, but people do seem to care.  There must be something important about this Vivian Girls record, better buy it instead."

Do you really think this doesn't happen?

I'm wearing my "Rusted Shut Kill" t-shirt right now because this kid decided to buy a Vivian Girls record due to the godfathers of termbo deciding not to offend one of their own's girlfriend.

The only thing that interview achieved was having the word "Wavves" in the Washington fucking Post (even if only in blog form) about 15 times.  All Matt did was give that kid free publicity.

Hated/Loved doesn't mean shit, as long is someone is talking about you.

You want attention - get everyone to hate you, die, kill someone, or get sued.

I think the Teenage Cool Kids should tell those rappers to fuck off.  Best case scenario is you get sued, get all over the news, lose the case, change your name to the teenage cooler kids, and write a song about how gay it is to be black but wish you were a beastie boy.

One point Matt made that I will agree with is the tendency for everyone on termbo to be into the same new releases.  If five "City Rockers" or whatever write something about a record being good, it's almost like everyone else is afraid to disagree with them.  Todd called for me to be banned from the forum the other night just because I wrote that I think it's stupid that King Tuff has been getting a board wide blowjob.  I don't like their music, big fucking deal.  Should everyone just agree, should punk become "if you can't say something nice don't say it at all, cause those are my friends"?  That's bullshit, the entire forum is made up of opinions.   Are we all just supposed to take what the same five or ten people say and always agree?

Damn, tried to grab that Ronnies tape but it was sold out when I got to my cart.  Anyone have an extra?

im seeing blank dogs tonight i wonder if mike will have any copies of these for sale

if he does, buy one and make mp3s of it goddammit so at least we can have that. we all bought it so it's not like we're crooks.

I bet sniper's back up plan is to make CDRs for everyone who bought one or something.

None for sale at the Pittsburgh show on the 15th, so I'd imagine they were all sold at the New York shows.  Someone has to have ripped it by now, same with the new Eat Skull record. I see nothing wrong with downloading a copy of a record you have already paid for or will buy as soon as it's available.

Pretty much every song on that King Tuff LP is so catchy in a non-cloying way that you can memorize it in a few listens, which is exactly what you want in a pure pop record. So many current bands should be taking notes. I'm sick of "pop" records with "the sound" down and no hits to push or "difficult" pop records that are caked in shit so they can hide from inspection. I rarely like stuff like this, so you know it's good. Ignore ROCIII! In fact, ban ROCIII!!!

I'd think a person as opinionated as yourself would welcome a view that differs from what the majority says about a record.  I understand that you like it, that's fine.  I am of the opinion that it is second tier re-hashed pop.  Different strokes Toddy.

Death LP is great, I love it pretty much beginning to end.

It doesn't touch the Chambers Brothers though, and I know that comparison is easy to write off due to the whole black/brothers thing.  I've always considered the Chambers Brothers a proto act.

I'm also really tired of all the King Tuff love being thrown across this board.  They sound just like Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.  They could open up for the Killers.  Do you grasp for anything that's easy to listen to? Could you argue the staying power of King Tuff?

Teepee - MBISO
I've played this 9 times in two days.  It's the b-side on the weird hug records 7.  Right up there with the newest eat skull track posted on their myspace as one of my favorite songs so far this year.

Dead Luke - Not Looking Back
From the Black Plague in Mono Vol. 3 tape.  Dead Luke makes your head bob??!!!?? Fuck yes.  Makes me think of Gris Gris and Wooden Shjips (sp?) without sounding like either of them.  This song will make at least two girls go outside to smoke cigarettes when I play it at the bar tonight.

some girl dressed like a hipster grandma will have to take her fuckin ass to gator's

I didn't understand the term when you said it to me.  As the night progressed and I looked around it made sense.

I'm going to buy a weekend pass for this, but might not be able to make it if I'm unable to get my shifts covered.

I think it's great that you guys were able to put together such a fantastic group of bands, keep the shows at your best local venues, and keep the price low.  In an era of extreme laziness, you get shit done, that's rad.

Most of my favorite bands have a song about themselves. I think that's why I've always liked rap music so much. Braggadocio.

the piano always makes me smile.

i like to listen to bud powell when i'm stoned and cleaning my apartment.
i like to listen to glen gould play bach when i'm stoned and cooking.

if i'm real high, like sit on the couch staring at my arm hair high, i've been jamming absinthe minds lately.  the new tape on not not fun is some downer deep thoughts type chant-like sludge. the drones and synths blanket you like the musical equivalent of putting on a snuggie that has been sitting on a radiator while you were in the shower.

I would also be down to split gas money with the both of you if a car is leaving from Cleve.

it was very nice to meet you yesterday Mr. Parts.  I really like your shop, sorry we both got screwed this year by electric base-board heaters. Hope we all get to party at this show together.  Homostupids cassette hasn't left the tape deck yet, it's crazy how much clearer these songs sound on this tape as opposed to their records.

I'm most likely not driving, but there is most likely room for one more.  Probably headin' back the same night.

You can get a hold of me on Facebook or through here and i'll give ya a call saturday if we're gonna go.

PS - haha, just posting as "parts" did - that offer should be good for you too!

I will send you my number tonight russ.  I really wanna go to this show.  I hear that I missed a lot of fun in Cleveland this past weekend, but Pittsburgh was pretty cool.  Still working on finding a house for the romantic getaway afterparty.
