Music Shit / Re: BRUNCH ROCK
« on: February 13, 2014, 06:30:27 PM »
Hi Termbo. It has been a time. But the line for Tasty & Son's was UNBRUNCHLEIVABLE. Almost hadda settle for Kenny & Zuke's. Can you imagine?

Italians Do It Better: Balearunchca?

Consider the Talk Talk 'nuum---

Talk Talk: itself a reference to what is truly the most popular item on the brunch menu
Colour of Spring: Spring greens?
Laughing Stock: Chicken, beef, or vegetarian?
Spirit of Eden: The bloody mary, the mimosa, the greyhound, the salty dog.

See, what it is, is a chiral center issue. Y'all have sleeves made of PVC with th' wrong chirality.

It is basic stereochemistry and I learned it while you were doing what it was you were doing instead of getting laid on the regular.
I did it to protect my collection of girlfriend-rock, which s what I use to get laid on the reg.

Like user: Vinnie.

I have the secret recipe for adjusting the chirality and thus neutralizing your heinous films.

I will share it in return for access to
your women

The ones you acquired after giving up on your befilmoul'd records.

I will take them off your hands while you scrub your filthy films clean via my super secret solvent.

I will say only that I hope your
tonguesare rested and capable of grooving.

I know mine is.

Is the Squealer issue really going for $50 a pop? Thought I got my copy offa eBay for like $15-ish and was perhaps the only bidder... that was a few years back, though, and I may not be remembering things correctly.

Don't worry; the PSU on my home PC just bit it and I'm actually engaged/busy (for now) at my new-new- job, is all. Hate typing on smartphones (this instance excepted to quell yr fears and because the deuce I'm dropping is nore of a ocho).

My days reduced to lurker steez are numbered and with the budding of Spring you may expect significant gains in techno music posts and snivelling attempts to pry loose New Romantic knowledge knuggets from users like WB and smiller.

I dunno, I choose to assume that TR is just constiptually f'(ree)-arting at the same level as (perhaps a 'peg' above) Talibam!

And you know what?

I think you're in on it!

This is Kaufman theater for the sub-250-copies-pressed crowd!

Amirite?

Now... get in the ring!

I mean, he's only got 200 lbs worth of underground... aren't you like 350-ish?

Music Shit / Re: Iceage accused of being Neo-Nazis?

You know who I hate?  Kokopelli.  Fucking fuck that little guy.  Look at him, playing some horrible desert rock on the (skin) flute:

!!!

Unrelated-to-Thread Fun Fact #231: There was a band in my high school named Skakopelli.

Not negronazis.

Though: Several Eagle Scouts.

Hmm... I am starting to put the pieces of this puzzle (checkerboard?) together and it goes far deeper than I ever thought myself capable of going (receiving).

God save any post-chillwave artist tempted to use the monikkker Neon Anasazi.

I kid: Fuck that artist but(t) hard, God.

Looking for beautiful but heady new age & ambient music.  Recommendations anyone?

Izzat J.D. Emmanuel Wizards jawn too directly influential on the wooly faux-age warriors of today? I haven't busted it out in a bit, but I recall enjoying it quite a bit.

See also: Marc Barreca - Twilight

Andrew Chalk isn't really New Age but is certainly ambientiously heady.

A UHaul is almost certainly cheaper / more spacious if you've got the time and inclination to drive.

My wife and I moved from WI to OR about a year and a half ago and used a POD. I don't drive and the prospect of making her handle a huge truck for so far was not very appealing. We cheaped out and stuck w/ one POD which meant we had to donate a lot of our belongings at the 11th hour when we realized we didn't have room for everything we were initially planning on bringing. Was actually probably a good thing for us aside from a few things I regret not having now.

I did get my entire record collection (~2000 LPs/12"s and maybe a couple hundred 7"s at the time) and all of our books without going over their weight limit, which I was a bit worred about as the packing tips they provide specifically mention collections of both of those things as particularly heavy for hauling.

I didn't haul a drumset but did haul some other gear (guitar, amp, assorted synth/mic/recording stuff) without issue. I dunno what kind of cases you have for your drums, but if they're soft I don't know that I'd attempt this. Basically, we packed everything like a bigass 3-D puzzle / Jenga game and I was bracing myself to be crushed under a landslide of earthly goods when I opened the pod up on arrival. Apparently I bungeed everything well enough to avoid that fate, but I am sure it was only a stroke of luck.

Either route, remember to put the heavy stuff (crates of records) towards the base of your stuff and, of course, pack above them wisely if you wanna keep 'em from being crushed. Good luck!
