"From the first note out of your speakers, this gem takes you to a different time and place entirely. Is this a lost album from 60's psych movement? Or a reissue of a nuggets band that slipped through the cracks? The answer is none of the above, this is a current band from Chicago who have discovered how to perfectly channel their music from a different era. Every aspect of this psychedelic pop record will lure you in, from the great guitar hooks, to the creepy voodoo organs, to the male and female vocal harmonies, right on down to the fact it was recorded with a vintage tape setup brings you right back to the roots of garage psych. A bit darker then the bands debut LP on Southpaw earlier this year but just as solid. Co-release between FDH and Resurrection Records, with European Distribution by Red Lounge Records. Out Halloween 2012"

We are expecting the vinyl out in Late Oct or Early Nov. The digital version is out now on Itunes (and a few other vendors).

Its that time again for another round of record preorders and some giveaways. These are all expected in before the end of June and will ship shortly after that. Be sure to check out the giveaways below the descriptions of the releases.

Crusaders of Love - Take it easy... but take it LP - In 2010 I happened to see this French band on tour with Ex-Humans. The live set was really good and was ended with a cover of King Louie?s & the Loose Diamonds ?Lookin for a Heart?. I bought the first LP ?Never Grow Up? on Douchemaster that night. This LP quickly became one of my favorites of 2010. It offered a great powerpop sound with excellent catchy songwriting. This LP follows in the same vein with a sound that is sure to be a hit with fans of, The Exploding Hearts, Gentleman Jesse, The Undertones, and White Wires just to name a few.

Spent Flesh - Self titled 10" Philadelphia based raw thrashy punk. This 3 piece band, rage through 13 songs in a little over 15 minutes. Fast precise hard hitting drums, loud distorted guitar that flirt with chaotic, noisy effects compliment dynamic and aggressive vocals that have just the right amount of snot and grit Their sound touches on classic 80?s hardcore, whilst paying homage to poppy and metal influences. Musically its amazing how big sounding this sounds for just drums and one guitar player. At points it reminds me of Void if they were influenced by Fuck on The Beach, Gorilla Biscuits, and even a touch of early Sonic Youth (mostly guitar wise) . Truly an original debut 10″ co-released with P.Trash records (Germany) & Sit and Spin records (Philly). (Just a note we dont have a 10″ section on the page yet so this is listed in the LP section of the store)

Terror Visions - World Of Shit Expanded LP This reissue originally came out late last year and has been on backorder for a few months. We got more copies of this coming in June also. Jay Reatards harsh electro punk project. Total band discography on 180 gram vinyl with Gatefold cover.

Based in Denmark and featuring members of Cola Freaks, Bliglad and Snow Kite, Glow Kit blasts thru a mix of Power Pop and Garage Punk with a touch of psych guitars that will have fans of LOVER!, The Manikins, and Carbones fans strip off their protective gear and dance in spasms in a lethal mushroom cloud. This debut LP follows up a 7? on P.trash records from Germany. This North American release is limited to 200 copies on reverse stock covers (The German release on P.Trash will have standard covers). This LP will find its way into the New Testament of the Garagepunk-Bible

We have our first stack of these in and up for sale. We also wanted to give a few copies of our test pressing away. Uusally we will work that with preorders so this is the way we are gonna work it this time. We are gonna give away 3 test pressings. FDH is very happy to have Digital Leather returning to us for his next full length ?Modern Problems?. I find the first full length since 2009′s ?Warm Brother? to be a breath of fresh air. Alot more pop driven then anything done by the band in years and possibly in the bands entire catalog (even getting into some sort of digital powerpop ground in my opinion). We cant post any of the songs yet but will have one up not to far down the road. I can say its almost all new material. We started preorders today (in the store section of the page). We will be doing some giveaways (see below for more info) with preorders. This record is our next releaseand is expected out in Feb 2012.

Here is what Shawn Foree (Digital Leather) had to say

?I grew up in Yuma, Arizona (Guinness named it the sunniest place on Earth). It borders California and Mexico, where I spent a lot of time. Dropped out of high school pretty early, drifted around for awhile, then moved to Tucson and started taking classes at the University of Arizona. I have a degree in 19th century American Lit. Spent a chunk of college loan money on gear and got hooked on recording songs.

While attending, I met Jay Reatard through a mutual friend. Jay liked my stuff. Did some tours with him. Released several CDR?s, a self-titled LP and some singles. Put out a record on Jay?s label, Shattered. Later, with Goner, then Fat Possum among others. He and I were very close friends and big fans of each other?s music, often covering each other?s songs. My large catalog is in part due to trying to keep up with him.

I was in a destructive relationship and tired of Arizona. I moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 2009 after finishing Warm Brother (Fat Possum) and started an four-month tour with a newly-formed lineup. In 2010, after Jay died, I left Fat Possum. I decided I needed a change of scene so I seized an opportunity and moved to Berlin. That?s where the inspiration to do Modern Problems first came to me. The demo for ?Soup? was recorded there. Berlin had a big impact on me. There is so much culture and life in that city. Spending time there with someone special made it even more amazing. I lived there over 3 months, then went on an insane month-long European tour. I flew back to Omaha hoping to work on my album.

Modern Problems is a narrative of the grieving process. I wanted to explore that universal experience with real ambition, so I created a kind of alter ego to relate the story of a loss, which is where the record starts- when the protagonist has lost a loved one and is in denial. He battles with despair and anger, vainly seeks hope. The final acceptance in ?Door? comes reluctantly. I didn?t want to get too cerebral so I decided to keep the music itself upbeat and somewhat simple in order to complement the heavy topics.

For Modern Problems I took my time with the writing and just let life happen. The songs came naturally. I vocalized more on this record than in the past. My voice sometimes cracked like a pubescent teenager?s, but instead of covering that up I decided to just let it show. Actually, there?s no digital editing on MP. I wanted to keep it pure in that sense. Tracks were laid in one or two takes.

Modern Problems was recorded 100% on tape. By myself. In my home. I?ve recorded albums in all kinds of studios on all kinda of rigs. These songs needed a warm medium and an intimate setting to work and I had the set-up. At first I tried to distance myself emotionally from the content, but I found out almost immediately that wasn?t going to happen. This is personal stuff, and I hope it will strike a note with listeners beyond the catchiness and directness of the compositions.

I signed with Absolutely Kosher in late Spring 2011, but they made the hard decision to close their doors after 13 years of business. So I called up some friends at FDH (who released Jay Reatard?s synthpunk masterpiece World of Shit) and we decided to proceed. ?

New Releases For Sale/Distro Updates / Black Bug - self titled LP
« on: December 09, 2011, 12:04:23 PM »
Nearly 2 years ago  we put out the first full length record from Swedens damaged synthpunk group "Black Bug". This records pressing of 500 copies has been out of print for quite some time now. When moving a few months back I found a box of about 25 copies of the LP without covers. I just made photocopy covers for these 25 records (much like I did with the last pressing of the tokyo electron az-238 LP). Im selling these for 8$ plus shipping each. They are up at fdhmusic.com in the store section.

Im really not a fan of doing preorders but this one was expensive so I had to do it. Doing a bunch of giveaways to encourage preordering.........

Back in 2007 FDH released the first and only full length record from Jay Reatard?s harsh electropunk project Terror Visions. World of shit was a collection of songs recorded between 2002 and 2006 as a outlet for songs Jay wrote that didnt fit with his current projects (Lost Sounds, Angry Angles, Jay Reatard). The record was released as a picture disk LP and CD limited to 1000 copies each. Within months we ran out of the LP?s and had only had the CD available.

We are very excited to announce a re-release of this record on vinyl. This reissue is really more of a band complete discography then a reissue. It collects the entire World of shit album (including 2 tracks that were originally CD only tracks), as well as the 2 tracks that were never released, one original and one Brian Eno cover (Baby?s on Fire).

For this reissue we had new artwork put together for a gatefold cover including a stack on uncirculated pictures of Jay. We went with 180 Gram black vinyl and had the tracks remastered to greatly improve the quality over the picture disk from a few years back.

As of now we are taking pre orders for this record. The records official release date will be Dec 6th, however we expect having the records in hand in late Oct and will mail all preorders out before the official release date. Also as a incentive FDH will be putting anyone that preorders a record into a drawing for many different items listed below. To pre order follow the store section to LP?S and you will find a paypal buy it now button or send snail mail to the address provided. I order to qualify for the preorder drawing we mist have your pre order before Oct 15th.

Preorder giveaway drawing

So Im gonna be moving into a much smaller place in a few months and I started the task of clearing out stuff I dont need. I have about 750 LP jackets  overstock from records I have pressed that have to go. They are high quality ones from Imprint. They have never been used. Great for turning inside out and screen printing on for your own bands LP or art projects. I am gonna hold onto them for 1 more week till next wed night garbage collection. The are located in South Philly and if you want them your in charge of getting them from me. Spread the word if you know anyone in Philly that might want them cause I would rather someone take them and reuse them then having them tossed into a landfill.

Reatard / Terror Visions - World of Shit - reissue
« on: July 05, 2011, 12:35:09 PM »
So its in the somewhat early stages but Im getting together everything to do a reissue of the Terror Visions LP. Still working out the release details but I basically wanted to drop a line and open the offer for folks to submit things they might find relevant to this release. Great pics of Jay, Liner notes, stories that make sense to tie to this release, or anything else. Obviously I wont use everything submitted but I just want to get as much stuff together as possible and do this right. And of course if you give me something that I use for the record I will get ya a promo copy. Just PM  me or e-mail me (erictheill@yahoo.com) with anything you might have for this.
