im working on transcribing my second set of reviews. its a pretty painful exercise just listening in my head to how people described things 30 years ago, but im supportin' the cause.

skipping the obvious old stuff. just gonna go contemporary-ish. like everyone said, perfect is a very hard word to throw around. anything is stupid if you look at it under the right microscope. this is just records that i can (and want to) listen to end to end without skipping anything or regretting anything, and wanna do it again after

el jesus de magico - scalping the guru
hunches - exit dreams
british sea power - decline of (im sure i dont get a lot of backup on this one)
comets on fire - s/t
deadly snakes - ode to joy
reigning sound - too much guitar
dillinger four - situationist comedy
queens of the stone age - songs for the deaf
protomartyr - under color of official right (kinda new to call this, but i could see it heading to this kinda place)

i really dont know how anyone in good faith could call an oblivians record perfect. the band would probably insulted to hear that.

Annihilation Time II. I think the first one was too Flag heavily influenced. Which is not a terrible thing, I like the album. On the second one however, I feel they came into their own. There is still that Flag influence (again not a bad thing), but it seems to have opened up a bit. It's more rock 'n' roll with the obvious Pink Fairies, Budgie, Sabbath influence being more prevalent than on the first album. "II" has so many great riffs, lyrics, drumming. There is not a dud song on there and the album flows together nicely. It's the ultimate party record. One of them anyway.

"thanks anyway" on this record is the perfect song. you are right though, no bad songs on the record.
