Big ups to parochial schools. I went to Christian school and I've got no complaints -- regular, working class kids (no thugs or rich kids), assigned books actually at your reading level, small classes, exposure to all those cool Old Testament stories. Cracks me up when dudes born in 1981 try to make their Catholic school experience seem like they were beaten by nuns and raped by priests daily...gimme a fucking break! Catholic
schools stopped being harsh 30 years ago.
I teach English in a Catholic school, and that's exactly the type of experience I am trying to create. Don't get me wrong, a lot of the hocus pocus shit and the pro life indoctrinating can be really bothersome, but I like to think they will have similar memories when they look back on my classes.
By the way, I was born in 1982 and I went to Catholic school and totally agree.
