Non-Music Shit / Re: Weird/creepy coincidences
« on: June 25, 2011, 10:54:32 PM »
weirdest set of coincidences that happened to me was to do with this guy called Stuart Mason. I can never remember where I first met him but would bump into him in weird places. When Riot Grrl was big, i knew some of the Huggy bear people and he showed up one day and turned out he was going out with the drummer. Then a few years later, I went to a music festival as my friend has guest lists from this band that I didn't know, Stuart was going out with the keyboardist. It wasn't really a massive coincidence but we thought it was funny that we only met under weird circumstances. Anyway I saw some guy from Huggy Bear and asked about Stuart and he said he'd now moved to the US. Not saying where in the US he'd moved to. Anyway, a month later, I was on tour with Catholic Boys and got out of the van in Milwaukee which was the last date on the tour and saw Eric Apnea talking to some guy on a street corner which...turned out to be Stuart! He and Eric were friends (Stuart hadn't known who my band were, he didn't even know the Catholic Boys were playing that night, he was just walking past the venue on his way somewhere and we'd happened to stop at the exact time he was walking past). Two year later, i went to Milwaukee again and mentioned this weird coincidence to Andy Junk (who I'd never met or even knew when we were in MKE), and his girlfriend Kelly (who I'd also never met while we were there originally). Anyway, while I was there, Kelly's sister from Madison and her husband turned up (who were - I hope she'll forgive me for saying this - pretty straight. Though really nice). Anyway, her sister said she'd only ever met one other English person before and he lived near her in Madison and did I know him (which is what people seem to do from the US). So laughing, I asked what his name was. And it was Stuart Mason. The same one. Neither Andy nor Kelly knew him or had heard of him before I'd told them of the coincidence.

I kind of expect him to show up anywhere now. Which is probably why I never see him.

I bet he knows when you will see each other again.

Just got an email from Dischord saying they are going to release Void demo material from the Hit and Run session. Beyond excited for that.

You can already get this on the reg, is Ian just finally trying to cash in or is this going to be of higher quality? Hit and Run Demos comes on it's own with live sets and then there's the D.C. Demos that already has it, plus other choice cuts. Still cool though.

Yeah I have that stuff already but i'm assuming it's going to be better quality, those boots ain't that great. Dischord's been remastering all of the recent reissues too so i'm pumped on it.

Bummer about Deskonocidos and Pollution. Never saw either band.

Ha! I will be seeing them next month and although I love the LP, my expectations are low.
Mostly going for Cult of Youth anyway.

Has this been addressed before?

Big TC started this thread, looks like his account's still active (still blue). Thus, can't he delete the thread?

Although I suspect one SSR may have used his powers for good this time and made that impossible.

Or, Mr. "Graves" has such a hard-on for his own superscum behavior, that he leaves it up (much like his Livejournal account), in a very public act of self-flagellation.

So, basically, Based Goth Guy #37 is jerking off right now while reading this.

While wearing Sambas. (the goth-est of all soccer footgear)

I was thinking about this as well after that interview where he talks about the "terminal boredom scene." You know he's reading this shit.

why doesn't this gut just refund everybody, me in particular. then we all could just sweep this under the rug

I emailed him about a year after I ordered my stuff and said I ordered every color of each record he released, which I believe was only In Here and that Cold Cave split, even though I only ordered one of each. I actually received them soon after and kept one of each and sold the doubles/triples for too much money. In the end it all worked out for me!

I caught Crazy Spirit and Slowmotions last night. Slowmotions were a lot of fun, unfortunately the crowd dwindled after CS who played a short set but killed it. SO much fun.

All of the other bands were surprisingly good as well. Generacion Suicida who I think are part of the Statico Ponx thing were good, reminded me of Masshysteri. Rayos X was good. Not sure who the other bands were but fun night overall.
