Music Shit / Re: MIND ERASER
« on: January 21, 2009, 05:57:52 PM »i've seen Warkrime twice, i've seen mind eraser twice. the sole warkrime 12" is totally great and bizarre without seeming forced, i don't really spin the 7"s too much any more (though "no more" is a great song!).
Not into the neanderthal/crossed out/no comment-ish style or its derivations, so I won't say much about Mind Eraser - but they're far less guilty, if at all, of the (very existent elsewhere) trend Mr. Belden was describing. They were very awesome live (despite that the singer was, in fact, in RIGHTEOUS JAMS and some of those other terrible bands in that whole bizarre supertouch-tribute era ca. 2002-4. Conversely, that guy is wearing a totally great Anti-Cimex shirt in this picture.). I enjoy watching this bass player guy get worked up on the internet more though, it happens a lot and is usually entertaining. They are quite complex - they really care what three nerds on a message board say about them (their private board must just be an aggregator of every niche music board on the planet), yet they really dont care what anyone thinks cause they just put out a record on a youth-crew revival label! awesome.
most criticisms people level at warkrime are just them wishing they had figured out how to be an A- darby crash impression when they were 19 or whatever. i also dont get when people write off no way as a whole, there is some bullshit, but he put out the direct control and double negative 12"s and that first GW 7" - those are all fucking classics!
all i'm sayin is, warkrime played "blow up the embassy" last time I saw em, mind eraser played SSD.
had to pull out my FIFH to double check that someone actually covered this song. lol'd. also you read the mind eraser blog. why?
