For Chicago folks: I just booked this at Brew & View for Thurs. September 11 (day before Riot Fest).  There will be a filmmaker Q&A, and it looks like some band members will be joining in on the Q&A as well.  More info here --> http://www.brewview.com/schedule.html  If you're local, get tix at the Vic instead of online to avoid the service charge.

I've heard lots of people new to collecting records rave about how good this deck is, which doesn't instill confidence, so I'm wondering if anyone on here has used one.

I've got one and like it.  I think it has great sound for the price.   I still prefer playing 45s on my direct drive setup, but if you listen mostly to LPs,  I say go for it.

They've got free tix at the Exchange on Belmont if anyone needs.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.  I've heard good things about My Mind's Eye and Jerry's.  Will have to hit the Warhol museum for sure too.

Cities / Recommend me some places to stop between Chicago and DC
« on: February 25, 2014, 01:08:01 PM »
Driving solo from Chicago to DC, giving myself a few days to get there. Toledo, Cleveland, Pittsburgh are all places i'm thinking of hitting- good records shops? thrifts? regional delicacies? strange attractions? other towns worth a visit along the way? Thanks in advance.

And some heavy hitters: Banshees, Brogues promo (lightly audible warp), Golliwogs "Brown-Eyed Girl", Kenny and the Kasuals orig on Mark Ltd, Perpetual Motion Workshop, and Wimple Winch.

Wimple Winch is definitely a top want.  Is that the reissue or an OG with the center punched out?
