That's something I kind of realized early.....avoid the gimmicks. The singles clubs, mystery records,..whatever. Just buy shit you want to hear. They've all been mentioned, but Goner, Slovenly, Sorry State, Grave Mistake,Florida's Dying, SS, that's about all you need. For impulse buying, I suggest the set sales on this board. Just buy from the dudes that post a lot.

I buy stuff from reading about them here and on the Goner board all the time. When you grew up and live in a rural area of a small southern state the net is awesome. If I read enough people raving about it, I just buy it. Sometimes I just really like the stuff a certain guy post and will take a shot because he's into it. Passive or whatever, it works for me. I have a bunch of cool records that I listen to all the time.

Gary Wrong and Bits of Shit were easily the best bands at GF tonight. Two of the best sets I've ever seen at the Hi Tone...back to back.

I love set sales. I've never bought anything that's not a buy it now from ebay. I'm not a heavy poster...mostly a lurker...but I have done business with a lot of dudes on here offering set sales. Props to the people here......I've walked away happy every single time.

Thanks to Layaway Butch and everyone who posted. Never heard of this band until reading this thread, bought some stuff off itunes and a few hours later bought "Out of the Tunnel" from Discogs.....awesome band.
