Non-Music Shit / Headin' to a beheadin'...
« on: June 04, 2017, 08:30:23 AM »
I don't think Doc Dart immediately burst into tears when the Secret Service took note of his deepest desires, but her voice might actually be more annoying than Lansing's least eligible millionaire bachelor.

RIP, funny man.

I thought it was extra sad that the web/net obituary I read added 'star of Mel Brooks films' to the headline. He did lots of great stuff in addition to the Mel Brooks movies.

I hate to over-think this, but maybe limit the bullshit to stuff being sold by band members - past or present. Or not.

I'm gonna get the ball rolling:

Music Shit / Bad Review
« on: May 30, 2016, 11:37:59 PM »

Because I'm a bored, nearly friendless old shmuck, i Googled my first band the other night to see if anyone - anywhere had anything to say about us and I found a really odd review of our two records on a blog. The review is more confusing than offensive and I'm not about to respond, considering the record is now 23 years old, I just started thinking that MRR and Flipside were really complimentary back then (didn't help us sell the fucking thing) but as those were the two best known mags and it was pre-innernette I think we coulda been fucked if they didn't like it. Blacklist refused to carry the stupid thing based on the artwork! 'Frisco ::) ::!

Ever gotten panned? Received a hatchet-job?

Non-Music Shit / DEAD = My Dad
« on: December 07, 2014, 09:17:55 PM »

Alzheimers made the last few years hard, but he was a decent human being and a great Dad.

The first band I was ever in (which Maltodextrin hopefully won't name) practiced in my bedroom, in my parent's home. One time on a long weekend in the summer I opened the window while we screwed around, just making noise in between our attempts to touch the hem of JERRY'S KIDS, CRUCIFUCKS (and whatever else we had musically in common) and a fat, blotchy, angry neighbour rather than lean over the fence and ask us to shut up or call and ask us to shut up called the police. My Dad answered the door and without making us stop tried to reason with the cop. The cop was bent on writing a ticket and when he asked for my Dad's name he wouldn't believe that our surname was, and is, Smith.

That was probably the angriest I ever saw him. Annoyed at the neighbour, offended by the cop, but he was acutely aware of the absurdity of the whole thing.

Must have been hard for him to open his home to dyed hair/dreadlocked/punker weirdos every week to play music that he didn't really like, but he did.

Thanks, Dad. I don't think he posts here, but anyway...

There are a couple of surface marks on the one side. I doubt it will take away from your enjoyment. Minor crease on upper left corner. SOLD

Music Shit / TRIVIA question
« on: April 16, 2014, 08:21:09 AM »

I'm having no luck with googull, discogs, wiki-whatever and the baffling maze of "KBD" sites, so can someone tell me what was the name of Nena "99 Luft Balloons" Kerner's band who released a fairly snappy noo wave single?

I was thinking it was LINES, or OBSERVERS or...I dunno, can't even find the bootleg that I heard it on. It sounded a lot like CELIA & THE MUTATIONS as I recall.
