I really feel bad for Dean Ambrose after that. Terrible.
I'm just about done with WWE again because of how shitty the booking has been lately. Ambrose had the potential to be something special, but they wrecked him with cheesy prop comedy, bad scripted promos, and having him lose every single match on PPV. Don't even get me started on what they've done with Cessaro, all because he made some comments they didn't like in an interview.
NXT special was sick as death, but I cancelled my Network subscription yesterday in favor of buying New Japan World instead. So far it blows the Network away. So many incredible matches I've never seen before.
I actually watched a tutorial on how to order the NJPW service last night. Might do it this weekend. The archives look so sick, they go all the way back to the Seventies!?
So is the line of thinking/rumor that Raw and PPV sucks so bad is because Vince still has his hands in it (and the writers themselves also suck) and that NXT booking is so great because HHH is doing it himself with no involvement from Vince true? Steve, wondering if you have any Meltzer insight into this...
NXT is written by one writer (I forget his name at the moment) and HHH. I'm pretty sure the whole thing down there is just the two of them writing everything. Vince does still have final say in the actual WWE product and the line of thinking/rumor is exactly that. If you listen to any of the MLW podcasts with Court Bauer and Alex Greenfield as former writers they offer a lot of insight into Vince just squashing any good idea. I imagine with Linda McMahon running for office again, the product will continue to stay slow, safe and boring. So sad to see Ambrose, Rollins and Cesaro just getting killed out there. At this point I don't want them to ever bring up Steen, Kenta, Devitt or Zayn as I am sure they will just ruin them too. With Punk in UFC, Alberto Del Rio most likely going to Bellator and Brock most likely going back to MMA after Wrestlemania, I wonder if he will actually get the message that something needs to change. On an upside, if Lucha Underground can getter wider distribution, Global Force can get a tv deal and New Japan can be successful (and ROH continue to be) on PPV, more places for guys to work. It's not like the WWE money is such a big deal at this point since the payoffs have plummeted.
