Killer On The Road - Entertaining serial killer novel by James Ellroy.  Actually the only book of his I've read, one of his early ones.  Might try reading Black Dahlia, it's supposed to be good.  Movie is shit of course.

I dig Ellroy's early works. They don't stack up with his novels The Black Dahlia onward but you can read him perfecting his craft and I think that's a fun thing to do. American Tabloid is his best work.

Yeah, I dug Killer On The Road, more than i expected to.  Think I''l check out the L.A. quartet but are there any other early ones that stand out for you?

Killshot - Cool Elmore Leonard Detroit novel.  Want to read more of his stuff. Any recommendations?

Stick is my personal favorite Elmore Leonard book (also a great Burt Reynolds flick).

Thanks, I''ll check out Stick.

Recently read:

Nemesis- last Philip Roth novel, historical fiction about a 1944 polio epidemic in Newark. Scary. My dad had polio.

The Information- Martin Amis novel, funny and depressing. Flashy writing, drags sometimes, pretty dense read. Not bad.

Killer On The Road - Entertaining serial killer novel by James Ellroy.  Actually the only book of his I've read, one of his early ones.  Might try reading Black Dahlia, it's supposed to be good.  Movie is shit of course.

Killshot - Cool Elmore Leonard Detroit novel.  Want to read more of his stuff. Any recommendations?

The Golden Gizmo - Mediocre Jim Thompson book. Meh, it was only 4 bucks.

Currently trying to take another stab at Midnight's Children.  Don't know if I'm gonna make it.
