Scooped this at June Records today and it's ruling the turntable this evening. Lots of bands doing this style, which is all well and good, but Average Times have the songs and hooks to really stand apart. Not just a grip'n'file slab here, but a really solid punk rock footlong that merits repeat listens and future mixtape spots. I'm really happy to see a label of Hosehead quality stepping up to get this released in Canada too-- kind absurd that so many legit great Canadian bands of this century might as well be German for their labels and touring schedules. Predicting big things for this band and this imprint. And a couple more listens tonight for this record!

Well shit, thanks Simon!

I just got copies of the new Average Times LP. These things look and sound amazing. They're going on sale on March 4th at noon EST in the Hosehead Webstore. The first 30 copies sold online are on peach coloured vinyl (out of 75 for North America), the rest will be sold at the two release shows with Peach Kelli Pop in Toronto (March 21st) and Ottawa (March 22).

Add another notch in Ottawa's belt, as yet again they've produced another top notch punk record. Recorded with Yogi (White Wires, Steve Adamyk Band, Sonic Avenea, etc) at his Meatlocker, Average Times debut LP is 13 tracks of over-caffinated garage punk similar to Stiv Bators, Mean Jeans, Jay Reatard and The Oblivians.

Digital available right now via Bandcamp, iTunes, eMusic, rdio, spotify, amazon, etc.

About the 7" series:

Ketamines are releasing four 7"s throughout 2013 on four different Canadian labels. 1. Pleasence Records (Toronto) 2. Leaning Trees Records (Saskatoon) 3. Hosehead Records (Toronto) 4. Mint Records (Vancouver). All the art for the 7"s is done by Montreal-based Felix Morel and forms one giant cut and paste collage when you put all four records together.

These have started to land all over the world. Keep an eye out if you ordered one. Less than half of the pressing left at this point.
