That Black Fire 7' is a good one. I'm curious if the Do It song is about shooting drugs. That's sort of what it sounds like they're talking about.

i think they line in question is:  dont know why should it (should it) be wrong when youre young.  i think the song is about standing up for your right to rock.

Ha. Agreed. Those crazy Dutch

Ha. Yeah, they've gone up 2$ since RSD happened. 2nd Ave also still has the Poison Idea reissue from the last RSD day. Darby Crash 7' I think. Discourage just listed the master 7' of Pick Your King with homemade sleeve in their update for 3 grand. Wow. I guess there is only one though and I'm sure someone snagged it

Music Shit / 70's GLAM RECORDS
« on: July 07, 2012, 06:13:13 PM »
Aside from the Killed by Glam Lp's, are there any other (vinyl) reissues of note from early seventies glam bands? I guess this could fit into the thread of "Why isn't this reissued on vinyl" but why aren't there more nice multi-colored reissue 7's from the 72-74 era glam groups? I guess Rave Up did a couple Lp's (Iron Virgin and The Brats) but other than that there doesn't seem to be a whole lot out there and they never seem to pop up stateside anywhere unless someone is unloading their collection on Ebay (which is also rare).
Also, on this same note, why does it seem that many of these bands (although British) only had records or distribution in Holland, Belgium and France? That's where many of the pressings of these things seem to originate from.

One of the better ones too is External Menace-Youth of Today. You can still pick up stock copies for pretty cheap I think. It always seemed to me like the quintessential record that could fairly be deemed UK82

And another from the "are you fucking kidding me?" department.

Where does one even begin.... It's like a big joke now. How could you even feel bad for anyone who bids? I'm sure the people paying hundreds of pounds for "origionahl Sid Vicious autograffs" are going to go ape shit over this... thing.

The Nigerian Prince is finally opening that vault of treasure he has been emaling me about for so long

Music Shit / Re: Worst Reformed Punk band

I don't think I've bought a record from a reformed band since...I bought the Partisans lp that was pretty good seven or eight years ago I think. I do not think a new recording is going to match up to anything old the same as anything labelled as streetpunk now is going to be anything remotely worthwhile compared to a Blitz record or something.
I also do not expect H.R to jump off a Marshall stack at sixty years old. It is not retarded, however, to expect a musician to be enthusaistic enough about his music that it is worth going to see live. I've seen some bands really give it everything and play what the fans come to hear them play and I've seen some who seem genuinely lost which I do not understand as they can not make that much money to make it worthwhile to humiliate themselves or make the audience suffer because they still like the classics and not some jazz-infused avant garbage they made up last year

Hopefully the following truth doesn't decimate the bank balances of aging punk rockers world-wide, but it should be stated that anyone who expects new material by old faves to be delivered hot and fresh after tomb-like hibernation of twenty years or more is a fucking idiot.  Don't buy new records by old bands.  Of course it's a cash-in, though not necessarily an intentional one, as I'm sure many bands simply get old and eventually think quite simply, "gee, that was fun back then...I think people on Termbo like us a little...you guys wanna play?" and then of course they resurrect the old flag, the old colors, the old guard, only IT'S OLD.  If you people are seriously confused AT ALL, or expecting these bands to rock your ass, you're fucking retarded.  There's no way to sugar-coat that.

Okay sure but you show me one band that can write an album like Inflammable Material today and I could take that seriously. Fact is, nothing today can hold a match to those old songs. You spend over a decade or two listening to those songs they become part of your life, something that you feel a bit of ownership of yourself especially growing up alienated and angry as any punk kid does. The fact is there won't be another Stiff Little Fingers or Cocksparrer or, fill in the blank.
'It's not retarded to expect a musician in his forties to still be passionate about songs he/she wrote that you're still passionate about into your thirties. It might be naive but so is the music that we love. The vast majority of bands today, by and large, are fucking awful. You can say well, fill in the blank, is not and could blow any old band away but the truth is, new punk bands are just amalgams of old bands, at best and are, by and large, contrived and pretty routine.

The first three records by the Mau Maus are essential, as is the 'Lest we forget' ep by Blitzkrieg. This thread could perhaps do with a bit more love for Mayhem too. If anyone has a copy of their 'pulling puppets strings' ep that they want to offload then give us a shout!

Mayhem is great. Their track on Riotous Assembly is awesome. That's a great compilation in general.

Mayhem is really good. Even the later Boodrush E.P is really good.

A couple of less common ones that are on top too are Chaoz-Tribal Warfare and Onslaught-First Strike. Both might be a bit tougher to find than most but are well worth it.

I love many of these bands and always think it's funny when people dismiss  them all the while listening to painfully similar music but thinking it's more edgy or cool because it's in a foreign language. Or, for that matter, stating all these bands suck but Discharge were great because they were 'political'. Discharge has always sort of bothered me. Using exploitative pictures of death camps and war do not make your political beliefs sincere. Neither do haikus constructed of monosyllabic words set to blast beats
