I'm definitely going to miss him.  He was one of the consistently funny callers and was featured in several of my favorite prolonged bits.  RIP.

Was probably going to order the book anyways because I'm a fan of the terrain but the pigs blood butcher paper and free record of "dubious origin" put me over the top.  ORDERED!

Great video indeed.  $2.77 for new records Curtis Mayfield record seemed like a complete steal until I ran it into the inflation calculator and found it was $16.30 in 2014 dollars.  I guess record prices haven't changed much at all.

Not sure where else to put this.  Just recently ordered from http://contaminatedrecords.blogspot.com, where apparently they had some warehouse finds of early 2000s Empty Records including Destruction Unit - Death to the Old Flesh and Lost Sounds - Black-Wave.

Music Shit / Re: Drag City

Amen to this thread.  Dislike Drag City for a lot of reasons already mentioned above but I'll also add that every time I have made the mistake of pre-ordering a release through Drag City it always arrives at my house a good two weeks or so after the release date.  I'm not asking to get it early, but I also don't want to feel like I'm being mocked by the new arrivals wall at the record store.

The thing they did with Ty Segall's GEMINI was also very annoying.  Email blast saying buy this super limited release right now or you will miss out, record obviously sells out, follow up email blast accusing people who bought it of just wanting to flip it and announcing new intentions to make it completely unlimited.  Pretty sure Drag City hates their customers.

Non-Music Shit / Re: scariest movie ever made?
« on: July 23, 2014, 04:25:50 PM »
Don't Look Now is far from the scariest flick ever, but the scene with this little guy creeps me the fuck out

This.  Definitely the movie that scared me most.

I was also very scared by parts of ANTICHRIST.  Not so much the genital mutilation, more the stuff involving shoes (being vague in case anyone hasn't seen it).

Picked up Big Boys - No Matter How Long the Line Is at the Cafeteria, There's Always a Seat and Nurse With Wound - Homotopy to Marie at Pasadena City College flea market.

Last weekend it was Hunches - Yes. No. Shut It., Exit Dreams, Home Alone 5.  Goodnight Loving - S/T.  Colin Blunstone - Ennismore.  Dead Moon - Strange Pray Tell.  MX-80 Sound - Someday You'll Be King.  Jack Lee - Greatest Hits, Vol. 1.

Lots of Can.  Specifically EGE BAMYASI, FUTURE DAYS (which sounds better and better with each listen, might end up being my favorite) and DELAY 1968.  I still have much to explore, especially looking forward to MONSTER MOVIE and SOUNDTRACKS.

Also, Tall Dwarfs and Chris Knox's solo work, which seems like a pretty massive undertaking but I really like the early EPs from TDs and Knox's SEIZURE and CROAKER.  I'm also trying to track down a copy of GOLD LAM?, I like the Pet Hates single from it.

Tons of plays of Spaceshits - WINTER DANCE PARTY and Reigning Sound - TOO MUCH GUITAR lately as well.

New Thee Oh Sees LP seems disappointing considering the high level of recent output.  I'm not sure about the live line-up either, which I saw last night, I definitely miss Brigid's backup vox and keys and Shoun's drumming.
