Sawdust Caesars - S/T

Not the same band that had a single in ITR, is it? Pretty sure that was their only release.

Yeah, that's the single (or EP) that I'm talking about,  Fuck You/Shoo Fly & World War II.  I think that's the only one.

They got a bunch of good 90s garage 7"s at Amoeba recently, mostly very cheap... I picked up:
Dead Moon - D.O.A.
Jack Oblivian - Black Boots
The Pleasure Fuckers - Snakebite
Teenage Rejects - Don't Care About Anything!
Sawdust Caesars - S/T
New Bomb Turks - Up for a Downslide, Got No Proof, Bottle Island, So Cool So Clean, Sharpen Up Time, I'm Weak

I also grabbed Sleepy Hollow - S/T (1972) from somewhere else, still in shrink for $7.  Very cool record, definitely could pass for The Beatles with most casual listeners.

As for the Bats don't know if I'm interested. Never heard anything by them that was exceptional. Any youtube links to change my mind?

Question for anyone who ordered from the Snapper/Doublehappys Avalanche discogs seller: did your records show up warped as shit? Mine did!

No. Mine were all fine.  I was initially concerned about the shipping package (which usually blows with anything coming from UK) but luckily the bent/torn corner on the envelope he used didn't equate to a bent corner on any of the vinyl.

Ordered all four.  I wish there was some kind of In the Red yearly subscription service so you could just send new releases as they come.

That guy also has a bunch of old Avalanche titles...Snapper lp, Doublehappys 12", Xpressway Pile Up tape.

And the great Killing Capitalism With Kindness 3-LP box of Xpressway stuff.

Thanks dudes, bought Snapper LP EP, Doublehapys and Killing Capitalism.

Music Shit / Re: Is Anyone from LA Going To This?
« on: February 14, 2014, 12:58:39 PM »
I went.  It was changed to by appointment only for the first day and my appointment wasn't until 6pm (they opened at 10am).  By the time I got there, they didn't have much left in the way of punk/x posters (one left for $100 from 1985) and the records were strictly thrift store level.  My girlfriend said she recognized a lot of the stuff from Exene's 90s Silverlake shop You've Got Bad Taste.  The guitars were still there (being bid on) as were Exene's awesome red Seditionaries bondage pants from 1977 (starting bid was $900 on that).  On the way out, I found a stashed box that had some cool magazines / paper goods and I grabbed a 77 Trouser Press, a weird nudie calendar from 1977 called '77 Busts Out and some early 90s bondage magazine.  I will be in the OC on Sunday, so I might stop by then and see if they have anything cool left over that they are blowing out.

Anyone else go?

Non-Music Shit / Re: RIP Peter O' Toole

There is a great O'Toole profile: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-566034/Last-man-standing-How-Peter-OToole-outlived-cinemas-biggest-hellraisers.html full of wonderful anecdotes of drunkenness.  My favorite...

Quote
The filming of the 1968 historical drama The Lion In Winter, in which O'Toole starred with Katharine Hepburn, was notable for a series of bizarre incidents.
Shooting a scene on a lake one day, O'Toole trapped his finger between two boats. "Bloody agony it was," he said. "Took the top right off."
O'Toole carried the tip of his finger back to shore, dipped it into a glass of brandy to sterilise it and then pushed it back on, wrapping it in a poultice.
Three weeks later he unwrapped it and there it was, all crooked and bent.
"I'd put it back the wrong way, probably because of the brandy, which I drank," explained O'Toole.
