Non-Music Shit / Re: Jobs
« on: November 25, 2013, 04:53:32 PM »
I'm working on NOAH as an assistant editor, just got done with 31 days straight without a day off (averaging 80 hours a week).  Before this I was assisting on an applebees commercial, staring at hours of food porn footage, watching them blow torch the fuck out of steaks and then blow smoke into it to make sure it looks piping hot for the money shot.  I hope I get a rebound job once NOAH runs out, the time off between jobs can be pretty brutal.

Ty Segall - It 7" is now apparently worth $359 and worth more than $250 to at least four bidders.  That has gone up insanely in the last couple years since I traded for it in 2011 (and it could be valued at approx $20).

I got a sneak peak at a friend of a friend's garage sale last night and pulled away some gems:

Sonic Youth - S/T (SST)
Sonic Youth - Sister (OG Disney/Avedon Cover)
The Brood - In Spite of It All
Nirvana - Bleach (not sure what pressing)
1st Annual Texas Speed Trials Comp
Wanna Buy A Bridge? Comp
Jack Oblivian - So Low
Poison 13 - S/T
The Scientists - This Heart Doesn't Run On Blood, This Heart Doesn't Run On Love.
The Makers - S/T
The Red Crayola - Soldier-Talk
Girl Trouble - Hit It Or Quit It (Yellow vinyl)
Mark Stewart - As The Veneer Of Democracy Starts To Fade
Gibson Bros ‎- Big Pine Boogie (Homestead)
Gibson Bros ‎- Dedicated Fool
Gibson Bros ‎- Knock Down My Blues 7"
Circle Jerks - Wild in the Streets (Faulty)

All told, I spent $120.  I wish I'd had more to spend, I would have grabbed some Boss Hog and the Ripped Off pressing of Supercharger - S/T.

Amazing. I spent about one minute looking for my La Vida... password, a couple of minutes to see if you I could add anything to the order and then it was gone. Thanks anyway.

When I checked earlier they were all gone but I clicked on the  "notify me when product is available again" link. Just got an email from the label and bought one...looks like more are up for grabs.

la vida es un mus is selling desperate bicycles "remorse code" stock copies at a decent price.

Big thanks for the heads up.

I also ordered.  Thanks a lot for posting this.

Yesterday I got a fairly trashed G+ OG edition of Velvet Underground and Nico with peeled banana for $8 and a VG+ OG copy of Loaded that I need to compare to the other one in my collection but couldn't pass up on for $8.

Today I found an OG US pressing of Can - Ege Bamyasi at Amoeba Hollywood for $25.  I haven't had a chance to spin it yet but the vinyl looks pretty nice, the cover has some very light wear, it has original inner sleeve.  I didn't think I would ever come across this record and definitely not this cheap.

I haven't posted here for awhile but I'm paying some bills right now picking vintage clothes at thrift stores and immediately flipping them.  My coolest recent find was this (probably 90s, possibly 80s) shirt from The Real Kids, which I'll hold onto:

BUUUUMMMMPPPPP...

Anyone know what year THE REATARDS CASSETTE is from?  I'm trying to find a complete discography for Reatards and I'm not having any luck finding something that's comprehensive.

YO- I saw Cosmonauts in California recently and had a moment where I stood there, mouth agape, dumbfounded at how good they sounded.  Totally went up to the guy who plays the phantom vox-looking guitar and asked him about that one song where he did that one part that was cool.  Got the name of the track (Sweet Talk) and was ready to purchase on the spot, but they didn't have any, so I bought it as a download from their bandcamp page.  Now I know where to get it, so thanks!

I am a big fan of the Cosmonauts.  They seem to get better every time I see them, which is pretty regularly since I live in Los Angeles.  I already have this 7" though.

Glad to hear it.  You snagged one of the tour test presses I rushed out for them?

Yeah, I was lucky enough to grab one of the tour test presses.  Sweet tunes.
