Music Shit / Re: Crazy recent eBays

So when the rights got yanked you had to toss what was left, or was it a question of throwing away no-go returns?

Depends on how sketchy your boss is. There were quite a few titles that we still sold when I worked there that were reissued on other labels or just releases he didn't have the rights to anymore and he would still repress 'em.

I've been involved in quite a few very unprofessional American punk bands. Whatev. Records get put out. It's inconsequential in the long run.

I'd rather a small label do a small pressing and be able to make their scratch back to put out more records than be sitting on thousands of unsold 45's and not put out any records. Ya dig?

When I worked at Go Kart they were sitting on A LOT of unsold Down By Law and Canned Travolta and Lunachicks stock. I used to pitch em out the window onto the roof of the building across the street. First I started with sealed copies but later moved onto unsleeved records as they tend to go further. You do get better accuracy with sealed LP's but I mean that's all a matter of personal preference.

At a label I worked at we used to get our monster truck on and run over mass amounts of cd's.

I used to use Horizontal Action as a toiler paper because I was too broke/apathetic/distracted/depressed to buy TP when I needed it, and there were back issues of it lying around in the toilet. Hell, I used back issues of Horizontal Action for nearly everything, including soaking up spilled beer and trying in vain  to cover bad graffiti left by a bunch of kids.

No offense to all the Hozac people, but using punk magazines to wipe your ass can be a good experience.

I'm waiting for a zine made out of baby wipes.

I recently got some of the "Colour Your Life" cd's into the store. Was supposed to get their early albums but got their last album instead. Sounds alot like the Backyard Babies in this time period.

oh man did you see the shit on the first page of that thing?

"Agnostic Front were on tour and they were due to play in my town, whose name I'm not going to tell you because I'm scared of the guy that's in this story. Apparently their guitarist Vinnie Stigma isn't exactly a rocket scientist and he woke up in the van headed to the show freaking out. He thought he slept way too late. So he yelled at Steve Martin, who was driving at the time, "What fucking time is it? When is the show?" and Steve goes, "Relax Vinnie, we don't go on until nine." That's when Vinnie totally loses it and screams, "IT'S 8:99 YOU FUCKING IDIOTS. IT'S 8:99!!!"

The radio was on 89.9 FM."

To officially clusterfuckify this thread. Vinny Stigma is up for an Oscar:

Dwid can't even come into the US anymore, can he?  Integrity sucks.

I think he's still hiding out in Ohio beating off to Death In June and going to dance clubs.

still, these people had to drive 30 minutes to see him. that should account for something.

Shit, we drove up from San Diego but I had shit to do up in Orange County anyways so it was a combo trip. I thought that was the Melvins as his backing band? or maybe just the girth of Poison Idea? Lethal! It was somewhat like an old Dwarves show but less blood. I wasn't really disappointed, had a good time and didn't make it to bed that night and still drove back to SD. Speaking of the Cro-Mags....probably the most brutal show I've even been to was when they were touring with Motorhead. Alot of metalheads getting the short end of the stick when I saw 'em. That movie clip someone posted is from that movie "The Beat"....I say make the Jay Reatard shows into modern day gladiator battles? 100 men enter, one man leaves!

I can do it. Is this the same FRUSTRATION from France?

After looking at this again, I see it's for the FRUSTRATIONS. I'm an idiot. I can still deliver the records if you need someone though. Right down the street from me.

Canes in San Diego.

Even when they book good bands (very few times) they just can't seem to brush off the Hurley and sandal wearing drunk surf jocks.  Drinks are expensive, and their beer selection sucks.  Also, they never charge under 10 bucks cover and it's very obvious the bands are getting none of it.  There are also bouncers just waiting for someone to make any movement "that could lead to a mosh pit" to kick them out.  It sucks to say this, but that's just what happens when you have a venue right next to the beach. But I'll have to go with Tower Bar with being my favorite to watch a good band and get ripped at.

I guess I'll fire up the Delorean for this one. When did Cane's ever have good bands play there? It's mostly jock core type stuff anyways and always has been. I really can't think of any place I hate too much here. It's all the same, alot of pretentious fuckheads who know a whole lot about nothing.

Non-Music Shit / Re: FACE TATTOOS
« on: July 12, 2007, 09:36:51 PM »
Many years ago a couple friends of mine were told by a band if they got "Born To Revolt" tattooed on their foreheads, they would put them on their band's (the Madhatters) record cover. Well, my friend Junior gets it and my other buddy bails on the idea. This was before laser surgery was all the rage so his parent's paid to have his skin sliced open and lifted. He always looked like he was surprised to see you after that. Also had a bulldog on his cheek. Ended up jumping out of a window hopped up on pills & booze. R.I.P. Junior.
