Yup- that's a goodie. Glad for Scott! Good sale.

I was shocked. didn't think it'd get even close to a grand. New tooth to be installed on the 29th!

Go to Tijuana, and I'm sure you wouldn't have had to part with any records.

Black Lips / Re: Cover of Lollipop Shoppe's "You Must Be A Witch"
« on: June 07, 2010, 07:20:56 PM »
Gotta say that while this song definitely does not need to be covered anymore, the Lost Sounds one was legit and timely, and honestly - that is by far the best Lollipop Shoppe song. I think Cole's obvious coolness factor obscures the fact that there aren't a lot of classic tunes in the (vast) catalog.

There is no fucking way that is the best Lollipop Shoppe song. That song is so overexposed I always skip it when I play that LP. Always. I find the ballads to be far better than that one anyway. "Its Only a Reflection" "It Ain't How Long" or a number of other ones easily outrank that track at this point. "You Must Be A Witch" the easy first stop, but I burned out on that song years ago.
Every band puts out at least one pussy song so they can find out who the faggots are!

That's your problem, buddy. It's still the best song. There's a reason why it's "overexposed." Because it kicks the shit outta every other LS song. I like how you emphatically say "NO FUCKING WAY" and end with "ALWAYS" and "BALLADS ARE FAR BETTER" and then your entire explanation is that it's "overexposed." Great job. You explained your brain. Doesn't translate to the rest of us. In the real world, "You Must Be A Witch" is the best LS song. And to throw a little personal such & such in, I never got sick of it. I don't get sick of classic songs. Also, ballads are gay. Thank you.
I always skip the ballads because ballads are for faggots, always.

Non-Music Shit / Re: Question about Unemployment
« on: May 13, 2010, 10:21:19 PM »
I live in San Diego and my roommate has been on unemployment since November of '08. He only worked about 6 months at his last job at Whole Foods. I wouldn't be worried about working enough or not being able to collect. The main thing to be concerned with is that they make you jump through all these hoops now that there are all these extensions. Don't even bother with calling them either, use thy email as it works alot better. I've relayed this info many times through my unemployment guru so hit me with anything ya got. Our neighbor works for EDD as well so he gets the lowdown through her.

I've had a seller ship me 2 lp's wrapped in newspaper, nothing else. Had a lot of Northern Soul 45's come in a shoe box with no packing. Those are probably the worst I can think of.

Saw GOP with Black Lips once. Threw drinks at them and think I blacked out after that. All I remember about them is it sounding like some white boy "Blues" band that cuts loose on the weekends at bars.

Music Shit / Re: RIP Bruce Roehrs
« on: March 18, 2010, 06:10:54 PM »
Sometimes I would wake up with a missed call from Bruce in the wee hours of the morning. The message would feature him thanking me for sending him a record and then going on to basically review the record over the phone. Always made me chuckle and always a good time hanging with him. Alot of times he would follow bands down the coast from SF to San Diego. How many people even do that anymore? A real character. When you meet a person of his caliber you're always left feeling like you need to step it up in life and go full bore. Sad to see you go Bruce. See you fucks at the bar!
