Revisited this masterpiece not long ago. Here's one of my favorite scenes:

Music Shit / Re: Worst show of the year

Religious Knives and Orphans. Two absolutely pointless bands. A friend got in a fight with a jock at the Orphans show at the Knockout. Two of us jumped in and ruined his night. One of the bartenders called it "street-justice" because it was deserved. The only decent part of the show.

Is that the Orphans from L.A.? I thought they were alright when I saw them at Gilman a few years back. The bassist was great to watch, spinning his bass around his head and telling the crowd, "Buy our shit! It Sucks!" Later I bought that Electric Six 7" and it really did suck.

That would be Wade. He's a fucking machine. Hot rails! I'm pretty sure Jenny (singer) is living in SF now and the band is kaput.

Non-Music Shit / Re: Cadillac Records?

I'll be watching it free tonight:

That Dream Girls shit was unbearable. I'd rather get gangbanged by the Chargers than try watching it again. Two tears in a bucket, fuck it. Take it to the stage.

before writing off mickey roarke you have to see 'year of the dragon'

he plays one of the best cops ever. a hard as nails, racist, selfish asshole who also happens to be a vietnam vet (which justifies everything) assigned to clean up chinatown. it's ultra tense, gritty and moves at a slick pace. oliver stone wrote it and michael cimino directed it. this movie is never mentioned when mickey roarke's name comes up. probably because it's so racist but it's one of the best crime flicks of the 80's.

Yeah, but that's before Mickey Rourke looked like a Tijuana tranny.

Music Shit / Re: The Muslims change name to The Soft Pack

I was going to check out this muslims band until I saw that their 7" was fucking 11.50 at my local store. No thanks.

Yeah, the wholesale price is pretty outrageous but I imagine the record will be worth some coin. The "Extinction" 7" went for close to $40 last week. I could care less about the name change. Super rad motherfuckers and one of the best bands to come out of San Diego in awhile. The Widows are damn good too.

And there's a big, sometimes shitty used record store in downtown Springfield, IL. I forget the name. The entire second floor is vinyl (and old VHS porn). I found a few decent things there over the years (including an original ColPix Ronettes LP for $20).
Recycled Records (http://www.recycledrecords.com/) Spent many days in there. Actually had to buy back some cassettes when I was a kid after my house was robbed by some Latin Kings. Some old Jewish people own that place and live up to every stereotype.

Cheapest one I've found. Free shipping and they ship the same day. I've also got a coupon code for 10% off if anyone needs it.

Was it one of those flimsy "rigid" mailers? I bought 3 records from some clown in LA a few years back. He wrapped them in newspaper (nothing else) and sent them like that. Claimed he sends them like that all the time.

The Vomit Spots was the name of the band the Nazis went to see in that HBO special from the early 90s. Highly doubt it's the same band, but since they were from AL and that special was filmed in GA...maybe.

Same band. That show was in Alabama as most of the documentary was.
