Upcoming Shows/Tours/Events / Re: The Scientists in 2019
« on: April 17, 2019, 04:42:33 PM »
Haha. Is this the Duke show? Thinking of driving up for that--but the "no advance tickets" thing makes me wonder if it's worth it. The new songs sound terrible--but I've spent 10 bucks on worse things, I guess.

Music Shit / Re: The "Why isn't this reissued on vinyl thread?" Part 2
« on: August 30, 2017, 02:02:05 PM »
The entire discography from The Frogs *desperately* needs to be re-released. Is there anybody here with the clout to pull this off?

I saw bananimals going for $75 on discogs today. No copies of It's Only Right And Natural (best one, imo) were for sale. My Daughter The Broad might never have been on vinyl. Ever.

One of the Flemming brothers died a few years ago, but other dude still does shows (in Austin now). If you can make this happen. You should. This is essential. Toilet humor, aggressively homoerotic, and moments of musical brilliance.

I remember my CD version of Racially Yours came with a sticker that said "The Most Offensive Album Of All Time" (I'm sure it's not true, but it was a great sticker). The liner notes for one of their albums - I forget which - were just a lot of rejection letters from various labels. "Please stop sending us tapes." "we're a family label...."  "Your version of Gloria is awful..."

Weird. I randomly found a copy of "My Daughter the Broad" for 10 bucks at a record show in SC a few months ago. I was excited/ had never seen it in the flesh before. And not to be that guy, but some point some point like 8 years ago some dude on Ebay had a shitload of warehouse finds of the piss yellow version of "It's Only Right...". I had assumed it was a boot for a while--but looking at discogs I gather it's never been booted.

Used Records For Sale/Auctions/Wantlists / Re: WTB: Homosexuals LP

Haha. It is sort of weird that the In The Red 2xlp never came out. Wasn't that in the works since 2009 or so? I always assumed Bruno was nuts and prevented it from coming out or something. At this point everything under the sun has been reissued, so I assume there's some ridiculous reason why, say, L.Voag has been reissued and not the Homosexuals proper.

Used Records For Sale/Auctions/Wantlists / WTB: Homosexuals LP

Anybody have a spare copy of this and want some dough? I passed this up a few times over the years and I woke up this morning thinking to myself: "I feel like listening to the Homosexuals record"--but I can't, because I don't own a copy.

Mine showed up last week, too.

damn would have copped at that price
There's two on discogs for 30 right now. I gather someone must have repressed it.

29.99. Like 10-15 bucks cheaper than it usually goes for.

If it helps, they might have more. The seller(childrenbabies) had two copies on there last night. Don't know if someone repressed it or if they just had some kicking around....

How was this (the Atlanta show)? I live about 2 and a half hours south of Atlanta in the boonies and didn't have the energy to make the drive on Friday. Kicking myself, etc.

they are playing two nights in atlanta with the dream syndicate...pretty excited for this

Yeah, I think i'm going to go to this. I've heard nothing but good things about recent Savage Republic live shows. The Dream Syndicate will probably suck, but I gather they've been playing a good chunk of the first album, which I love--so maybe it won't be completely terrible.

25$ plus shipping isn't cheap--but oh well. Copies are in at Goner, in case anyone needs one.
