Votto looks like and baby Pujols at the plate. His knee buckles when he gets out front. He is hitting a mere .258. Fuck him. I'm moving on. Empty calories

"Can't Cut List
The Can't Cut List is designed for leagues with 12 teams. Since teams in smaller leagues may include several elite players, using the Can't Cut List for leagues smaller than 12 teams might limit the ability of managers to drop unwanted players, particularly those with short-term injuries."

Justin Verlander: in the past 5 seasons (2009-2013 including playoffs) has thrown 1,796 more pitches than anyone else in the MLB. Holy fuck. Here comes the steady decline for a 31year old guy who has never been on the DL in his career.

from Tweeter:

Greg Maddux faced Tony Gwynn 107 times. Never struck him out. John Smoltz struck out Gwynn once in 75 at-bats. Tom Glavine twice in 105.

Only one pitcher ever struck Tony Gwynn three times out in one game. it was Bob Welch.

Tony Gwynn had 366 combined plate appearances against Glavine, Smoltz, Maddux, Schilling & Pedro Martinez. He struck out 5 times.

Tony Gwynn vs.
Smoltz .462 (30-for-65) 1 K
Maddux .429 (39-for-91) 0 K
Glavine .312 (29-or-93) 2 K

Red Sox designate Grady Sizemore for assignment.... damn. Was hoping his comeback would be legit

http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/06/17/red-sox-designate-grady-sizemore-for-assignment-call-up-prospect-garin-cecchini/

"Grady Sizemore?s feel good story of a comeback in Boston is over, as the Red Sox have designated the outfielder for assignment to make room on the roster for third base prospect Garin Cecchini?s call-up.

Sizemore got off to an impressive start after missing all of 2012 and 2013 with injuries, but then hit just .187 with zero homers and a .530 OPS over a 43-game stretch from April 15 to June 15. Overall he hit .216 with two homers and a 41/19 K/BB ratio in 52 games, producing a measly .612 OPS that ranks 83rd out of 93 outfielders with at least 150 plate appearances."
