Music Shit / Re: Ghey TV
« on: December 07, 2012, 11:00:44 PM »
i wanted to like this.   i don't have a problem with Malkmus, but i hate the bass sound on this.
and it brings up something that i generally have a problem with, when bands do old material -  i hate the sound of modern instruments.   and modern PA's.
i think maybe jonathon richmond and a few others don't get caught in that trap, not sure.
but this sounds way too clean and THIN, and polished, and just like a really well done rehearsal.  it doesn't jam, even though this song is a "jam."
caucasian overdose.   oh well.   everything can't be perfect.  what if they blow it on the twin infinitives do-over ?     i guess we'll be bitching about that too.

When JR would occasionally play Doc's Clock in SF he never had the problem. At ALL.

Non-Music Shit / Re: My Last Two Days in NYC: Hell is Other People
« on: November 30, 2012, 11:18:11 PM »
if people want to make more money they really shouldnt be working fast food.  expecting to make a living wage at mcdonalds is unreasonable.  if you want to live in the city you gotta earn more, and its not wendys or mcdonalds responsibility to pay $15 hr just because of where you want to live.  as long as people are willing to do the job for minimum wage the corporations have no incentive to increase wages.

I assumed you posted that as a comment on how all the hipster types you hate are making the price of living in NY untenable for the acutal natives but......well......yeah.

manitowoc
crime index: 41
stockton
crime index: 2
(100 is safest)

annual violent crimes per 1000 residents
stockton: 14.15
manitowoc:  1.30

Looking forward to your research on the remaining 48 states.

Unless you just have a hard on for California. But that couldn't be the case, eh?

Iron Prostate

Y'know it was right around '90 '91 my buddy was always tossing that name around over greasy home fries at New Dawn. Wouldn't suprise me in the least if one of the dudes from Psychafunkapus (sp) was behind this. Fuckers.

Non-Music Shit / Re: its a crime to sit down in california
« on: November 03, 2012, 02:40:05 PM »
there doesnt need to be a law against sitting for cops to tell people to get up and move.  our local temporary living facility helps close to a hundred people a year, i actually recently corresponded with the mayor and city council in regards to a proposed 20 bed facility opening in my neighborhood, which i support.

You spend any time on Haight or Telegraph 5-10 years ago? Doesn't sound like it.  Fucking pain in the ass to walk down the street. Literally. Drunk hippy rednecks aggressively panhandling or just straight up fucking with people.

Girlfriends of mine were harrased to the point of being genuinely scared and I had friends who'd got to the point of just beating these fuckheads up. The law isn't aimed at people looking to get through the night...it's aimed at the little shits that would come to the city for a week to party on the streets.

How could you possibly correlate this to a 20 bed shelter? I guess by applying the same logic that would interpert the law as making it "a crime to sit down in california". RE; dum dum logic.

We're talking about this kinda shit once or twice a block;

That ain't full but at least yr tryin.

Saw them at the Brave New World a million years ago and a buddy and I "hung out" w/ her awhile after they played. Nice enough but she got tired of waiting for the Mexicans. Understandably. Never was that big a fan and couldn't even tell you how they were that night. At the time I kinda thought of them as the less campy Big Stick. Oh well.

Non-Music Shit / Re: What video game are you playing?

I am playing Strangers Wrath for couple of hours now, it's good.

GREAT game. Looked so amazing on my old TV was actually bummed when I went HD. Then I got Borderlands and moved on.

You playing the PS3 SW? Looks a little too shiny or something compared to the xbox version. That said keep at it. It goes to some pretty cool places as you continue.

I hadn't played anything since Borderlands for the past couple years but am back on the PS3 for BL2. Not quite as good as the first but still digging it and def liking being able to jump into friend games.

New Releases For Sale/Distro Updates / Re: SOGGY 2xLP
« on: October 08, 2012, 06:19:04 PM »
I've got the 2xlp on the way from Goner but I want a POSTER! Knew I shoulda bought the first one when I was in aquarious. Not that I'm gay. My most favorite ever rock "poster" was the Ozzy centerfold in some crappy metal mag back in 82-83 (round the time of the Motorhead tour) when he shaved his head and is peeking out from behind a house shrub.  So OBVIOUSLY I don't want the poster for some weird shit.

Is the poster there?

Loooong day.

Odd that the 1st isn't listed on Discogs. There's a copy of the Black Whip Band lp on ebay right now for 40 bucks. Covers almost worth the price of admission alone.
