Music Shit / Re: Maximum Rocknroll: DEAD?

I dunno, it doesn't seem like they're going anywhere. Just not printing a magazine, that by the looks of it, most of you don't read/cant find anyway!

We're nearly two decades into the 21st century, it only makes sense they would alter their focus and format.

An 18 year old in 1977 is turning 60 this year. Podcasts have been around for 15. You're reading this on a website that started as a blog-format punk zine and has never been distributed in a physical format.

Nothing to fear here

AMMAR 808 - Maghreb United https://ammar808.bandcamp.com/album/maghreb-united
North African music played on traditional instruments then filtered, sampled and re arranged. Great production. FFO the Doueh/Cheveu album from last year. This one has a much darker apocalyptic desert future vibe

Big Supermarket - 1800
Love this record so much

Also digging the new Robyn album. As always, great breakup tunes.

I'm also kinda obsessed with the Music From Memory compilation Outro Tempo: Electronic and Contemporary Music from Brazil 1978-1992: minimal electronic songs that have a lo-fi, off-kilter quality to them and, I don't know, feel uplifting in some weird way.

Jocko always bringin the goods

good to hear more from these freaks

Total Control singles
you know

Sweet As Broken Dates: Lost Somali Tapes from the Horn of Africa
about as good as it gets

David Ruffin hits

Ric Ocasek - This Side of Paradise
This one escaped me till now somehow.  80's perfection. Tom Verlaine makes a guest appearance on a track but he's buried under the synths.

Blasted the Can peel sessions at work

First time listening. What really sells it for me is the rhythmic looseness, oops wrong note, who fuckin cares aspect of Karoli's playing in contrast to the perfect machine that the other three players form. Great sound from the engineers at the beeb too

Ugly Delicious on Netflix

gets into some good stuff. Chang come across frequently as both conflicted about his success and as an asshole, which I like

The scene where he visits his favorite BBQ chicken spot in Tokyo and makes everyone there start crying about how good the experience is made me tear up too. But I also get misty watching shit like the medal ceremonies at the Olympics so whatever

"Nevermind the Bollocks" on CD in my best friend's English dad's Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Loved the cover art and didn't care for the music too much

Pretty much feel the same way 20 years later

Doesn't have the power of their live performance but I still love how weird and terrible and "who gives a fuck" but somehow brilliant it is

Switchin between that, The Matrix Tapes, and A new tape by SLC weirdos It Foot, It Ears
