I think I'm finally gonna read Ulysses, after threatening myself to for years. If I had not been a dummy and gone to school, I would've read it a long time ago.
Then I'll have something to talk to my dad about (j/k, although he's somewhat of a Joyce-o-phile).
Is there anything about the early Irish punk scene in it? I guess I'll find out.
I read
Ulysses as a young man and would recommend reading a guide along with it for each episode. There's a lot of truly psychedelic shit going on I would have missed without a little scholarly help. Peristalsis....whatta thing
Doing a quick review of Homer's
Odyssey might also benefit the reader
I think I'm due to tackle it again one of these days
NR: Collection of Harlan Ellison short stories called
Shatterday. Hehe, shat. Guy was a total asshole but sometimes (okay, a lot of the time) it feels good to read something by an even bitterer, more conceited asshole than yourself.
On deck: Donleavy's
Balthazar B and some Hemingway short stories.
