ASTONISHING SOUND SHOW STORIES VOLUME 1
https://digthefuzzrecords.bandcamp.com/album/astonishing-sound-show-stories-volume-1-dig-the-fuzz-records-dig051

a user mentioned this comp in that old thread about "what hasn't been comped?". someone uploaded it to bandcamp last year. good shit on there

what else?

T. Rex - My people were fair...

Talk Talk - Laughing Stock. Great interview about this in the new Tape Op. very strange album in ways beyond the obvious

SSG - You're Never Alone with a Cigarette. I want to be in this band

Iggy - Lust for Life. STILL can't decide if I like this one or The Idiot more. guess I don't have to

Nots - We are nots. Sounds great hauling wood and garbage around in the astro van with the windows down glaring at people driving to work in their shiny german cars.

god dammit a fly got in my room bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzz

Listening to this record I bought yesterday at a show, based only on the funny title: the Trashies, "Life sucks trash fuck". Fun, Spits-y record. I bought their second one too 'cause it was called "What makes a man get trashed?" but I haven't listened to it yet. I figured that if they were both in this totally serious and intense political hardcore guy's distro they were probably meant for an idiot like me to buy or he would have dumped 'em. Funny how he tried to tell me they were a noise-post hardcore band when they are clearly a shitty dumb punk rock band.

these guys were from Seattle! the synth player used an upturned trash can as a keyboard stand and they would steal multiple neighborhood trash cans before the show and throw their contents into the crowd. great party band. also had some great songs lurking under the muck, beer, and pot haze

NP:

the trashies (duh)
whatever brains' demo dump
life stinks - s/t (do they have a new one yet??? must obtain)
zz top - eliminator

good to be back in the land of the free

People seemed to like the movie. I really wanna see it.

Its great until they get to the white tennis shoes and baseball caps era....

If you love the haze's 'tude you'll dig it

some LOUD AUSSIES sat behind me at the screening in Seattle, snickering every time they came on screen. Mark Arm wasn't there but I think Eddie Vedder might have showed up wearing sunglasses. I was by FAR the youngest, least greasy and tattooed person there. I have some work to do

Not to hijack the OP's thread, but in lieu of starting another Seattle thread figured this might be a good spot to ask...

Anyone know if Seattle has a noise/power electronics/etc scene to speak of? I'm moving out there in May and it'd be cool to hook up with some like-minded noise/synth dorks. Actually, any punk/termbo/whatever music recommendations would be much appreciated. As of now the only band from there I'm familiar with are Dreamsalon. I've been out there a few times, but am kind of in the dark as far as the scene goes. The two times I played there on tour were not the greatest, but that was back in 2009 so I'm sure it's different now than it was six years ago...

SOME of the events put on by these organizations may feature what you are looking for. You'll at least be able to meet people

these folks are more likely to host noisy/synth/out stuff...seattle has a little bit of everything

keep an eye on whatever this white glasses dork is up to as well

I'm out of town this month so I dunno about the shows but there's a thread around here somewhere for record store reccomendations.

If you're just in town for a few days, a couple of good FREE attractions are: Gasworks Park (beautiful view of downtown and sometimes the mountains if it's clear), The Ballard Locks (weird maritime contraption run by funny old men, also in a beautiful park), The Frye Art Gallery (contempo art), RACER SESSIONS (freaky free-improv jam night every sunday at 8pm at a place called Cafe Racer (better than it sounds (seriously))), The Pike Place Market (tourist trap/shit circus/freakshow), Compline Choir (free Gregorian Chant at St. Mark's Cathedral Sundays at 9:30pm, surprisingly cool), Wayward Music Series in the Chapel at the top of the Good Sheppard Center (http://www.waywardmusic.org/ always weird stuff, very cool sounding space)

Hope this points you in the right direction

Maybe it's a long shot but I met this weird guy who does ambient music through tape manipulation, he's from Basel which shouldn't be too far from Zurich, I assume he would know about experimental/noise music: http://melebemisanthrop.bandcamp.com/ - https://www.facebook.com/melebemisanthrop (name is Oliver)

This is totally the stuff I'm always looking for, Ill try to get in touch with him to find about interesting venues and upcoming events. Thanks! My friend tells me Basel is a short train ride from Zurich.

I know you live in the north of Italy (somewhere...) is there anything a shitty American "finding himself" would enjoy doing there in February?

Going to Zurich Feb 1st. Staying with a friend working on a PhD there. I've ever been to Europe before and the only other country I've been to outside of the US is Canada. Vancouver is hardly different from Seattle....

Anybody know where the underground punk/noise/jazz/performance stuff happens? Do people do that here?
What should I be eating? Any worthwhile hikes/sights?

Got a whole month to bum around there, planning on taking trains to other cities/countries but I'm not sure on just where yet. Too many options.
