GOOD THROB now playing the London gig.

2 out of the 3 contain Electric Eels tracks.

I fail to see any problems here.

(The 'Punk 45' book is nice, a good jumble of artwork, almost worth the ?25 asking price.)

Thought Quango were a one-shot single type band, but ended up playing a couple of gigs earlier this year so who knows. The Lowest Form, Good Throb, Perspex Flesh records all appeared recently and are worth your attention.

The Power Lunches gig appears to be a matinee. SNOB rule. Go to this gig, wander to Base Pizza, wander back, go see LAS OTRAS three hours later.

Has there ever been a decent punk band to come out of Luxembourg (or Mallta, or Cyprus?)

Serious question. Making a mix that consists of 28 bands from each of the 28 European Union countries. (Time on my hands.) If I can't find anything I'll just include Sweden twice.

I like 'em. Might be capable of an era-defining moment like the Specials "Ghost Town". Kind of feel they're only really gonna matter if they can fluke getting massively popular, ala the Pistols. How d'you manufacture a Bill Grundy moment now though? And what would they need to do to provoke it? Storm a live political TV debate and kick the crap out of some cunt like Nick Clegg or Michael Gove? Or set fire to Jeremy Clarkson?

I dunno, I reckon if they crossed over and got mainstream exposure it would devalue the whole thing. Much better to stay on the margins.

A mild tabloid frenzy wouldn't go amiss. Or Jools Holland.

One of them's from Grantham, town of Thatcher. 'Jobseeker' is a reassuring listen.

Lincoln Imp remains, but has apparently turned its back on live events and letting anyone under 18 in. The Scunthorpe Telegraph Rock Open lives, but again is more about indie bands and endearingly atrocious metalheads...

(Tape's now for sale at Accidental Guest for six of your equally proportioned dollars.)

This zine is now available to buy from Rough Trade and La Vida Es Un Mus. Posted copies to Fusetron this morning, and other distros will have some soon.

Put it online, too, so you can stream and download and what have you: anothersubculture.bandcamp.com

ohh i'll have to get that then. i am from there too. i don't have any clue about any punk scene there tho...well but for the 90s.

There seems to have been a small scene around 1980 (sample: Product of Reason), and I remember some gigs around Scunthorpe and Grimsby in the mid 2000s, before financial crises and the allure of Sheffield meant that everyone involved moved out...

does the tape have anything to do with scunthorpe?

Instant Automatons are from Scunthorpe (well, the surrounding area), and I'm born and bred there. The interview with Mark is about twenty minutes and covers playing gigs in Grimsby (a disaster, and with the area's own Throbbing Gristle copycats?) There's an idea to cover more of the Scunthorpe punk scene (revolving around the Household Shocks LP from 1980) in a future issue?

Tracklisting here, by the way -  http://www.discogs.com/Various-Another-Subculture-1/release/5202680 - sending some to FAN DEATH (and certain review departments) later this afternoon...
