Dee Dee book I'm referring to is called Lobotomy.

Same co-author as Poison Heart - I assume it's just a different edition.

If you are looking for an intellectual retrospective of the Ramones...

Definitely didn't go in looking for that.

But where I found the fucked up junkie hijinx in something like Please Kill Me wildly entertaining, Dee Dee's book just seemed tedious and sad.

Like I said, maybe I should revisit - could be I caught it at the wrong time.

Dee Dee's book is fucking stellar! That is one of the best reads of my life. Absolutely hilarious. So many great stories in there. The story which he talks about grabbing the girl boarder guard's gun and punching her out and then shooting and killing the other two guards and describes the scene as a bloodbath, is some grade A story tellin'!

Huh.

Don't think I even got through it.

2nd worst rock autobio I've ever read, after one of Eric Burdon's mid-period attempts wherein he writes 300 pages about dropping tons and tons of acid and running trains on young hippie women.

Wait.  That sounds like a pretty good book.

Oh shit, maybe the problem is me.

Not feeling very confident this year.

WL/WH 45th Anniversary thing.

Dunno why I keep buying these.

Maybe the "Gymnasium" stuff will sound better than the boots I've got.

It'll be a good nostalgia piece for all those days spent paging through it and the TP Guide at the school library.

The verlaines are OK at best to me.  The smartypants self awareness is annoying...I'm not into the kiwi pop much so go figure

Loved "Death & The Maiden" right off but otherwise never rated them at all compared to their NZ contemporaries.

Slowly found myself coming around on them in the last couple years.

Seems to be a resigned sort of depth that just didn't sink in back when I was a younger fella.

Also, Jane's inability to contain her grin during her bass part in the bridge on the "Doomsday" video.
