i was thinking of farting into jars, sealing and selling them.  sometime in the future, people could open the jars, sniff my farts, and i assume they would be preserved.

i would be willing to donate some farts in a jar for your cause.

how many can i sign you up for?

My move was to stuff a crisp dollar in a clear, wide opening bottle, fart in it, seal it and then wait for someone to open it for said dollar. It got old when people around me caught on, but was good for some laughs. For some reason pineapple soda gave me the most horrendous farts.

I'll donate a dozen jars will 5 dollar bills in them

This doc is about the club scene in New Jersey, but is heavy on New Brunswick where I grew up.

The Red Fox Inn in North Brunswick is disappointingly not covered here. That was THE first club that let punk bands play in New Jersey. The Dictators, the Ramones, all the New York bands did their first Jersey gigs there. Plus all the local punk bands around New Brunswick played there (Harlow, Suicidal Swingers, Steel Tips, the Rozz). The staff were all hippies that didn't totally get punk, but they let any original and left field bands have a go in the era where Jersey was all clubs doing cover bands.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=K6EssTkwmcs

This clip of the documentary mentions the Main Event which is what the Red Fox became after it closed in 1980.

Harlow was the popular band at the Red Fox. They gigged there as early as '74 (maybe even '73?). They were a nasty glam band who did a lot of covers at first (Bowie, T. rex). they were basically Jersey's New York Dolls who had a sound that was predicting the punk sound. One of their members Billy was in the pre Dee Snyder Twisted Sister also (he died last year), the bass player Mike was in the Cramps for a minute too. I think all the members of the band are now dead actually.

thanks a lot for sharing this. are you aware of a documentary done on the NJHC band Mental Abuse? Supposedly a doc exists but its hard to google and I got no leads.

They made a movie back in the 80's, entertainingly bad acting. I know Syd and used to see Dave here and there but haven't talked in years now. Syd lives in Delaware now, we hang in Jersey when he's got a show to play up here, one of a kind guy

Oh wow I didn't know it was an actual movie. I gotta get my hands on that thanks for the info

It was a short film if I'm not mistaken, pretty sure it was also a music video for No God. Syd gets forced to sign a contract with the mafia, it's pretty goofy. When AF lost their drummer Syd told Vinnie about Dave and he joined AF. Fun fact, Syd actually tried out to do vocals in the Bad Brains when HR went to jail, he performed the song I with them at a rehearsal.

Don't forget Tasmania, they even have punk rock there and refrigerators and Starbucks.

I used to think it was just an island of bush people with alligator teeth in their hats. Boy was I wrong.

No shit: "The Boss" actually came out and jammed with Social Distortion at a show a few years ago. So it's not that far fetched.

It'd be better if John Travolta just sang the whole gig and let Glen sit it out, I'd pay 300 bucks to see it

Making a mix CD of NJ shit for my pal

F-66 7" from 1980
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcu7pU9oMEQ
Band had Ray Gillen who joined Black Sabbath in the late 80's. He originally recorded vocals for The Eternal Idol but they scrapped him and replaced his ass.

The Parts - Look At The Girls 7"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZo6FRazNMI
Band from around Middlesex County, NJ. They played around a bit in the early 80's at various bars. Hard hitting skinny tie punkers.

Candy Apple - Stargazer 7"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fgVvh4SdA0
3 gals from New Brunswick, NJ. Mostly gigged outside of town

The Bee Jays - My Boyfriend's Back 7"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxjFZwkRO04
Same song on both sides. Woodbridge, NJ band. Tied with the Fast "Boys Will Be Boys" as one of the gayest songs ever. Woodbridge, NJ always had a big gay social scene, John Travolta starting his career doing cross dress cabaret theater there, and our former governor McGreevy haunting the various gay clubs during his high school years. This song was a local novelty.

Mode/IQ - Mind/Soul 12"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7i4pOJ84Uk
Long Branch synth band. They were cool with all the Brighton Bar/Mutha folks but didn't fit in stylistically.

always been pretty cold to PJ Harvey, doesn't do much for me. I hear a lil Pere Ubu ,Tom Waits, a lil Patti Smith, but when it all comes together just ain't my bag of dope

she does resemble Sally Kellerman which is pretty cool
