Who from Hunches is dead?

Posthumous as in released after the band split up, that's why I wrote "if they count". Same for Swell Maps obviously.

Pretty sure they did a small west coast tour to support the record, and that Home Alone 5 lp. So no, you're fucking wrong. Makes me sick.

My bad, I guess. Sorry for ruining EVERYTHING.

Thanx for the gbv recommendations... there is so much on spotify. Ok next up GG ALLIN

Freaks, Faggots, Drunks + Junkies first and foremost.

Id disagree. Always was, is and always shall be is by far the best gg record. Start from there then you can hear him disintegrate as you move through his discography.

I'll second that, this album is actually good, everything after is just funny.

I think "Always was, is..." is seriously overrated, but then I guess I'm just not a fan of that style of music. He's done so many bad records but in my opinion he did his best stuff circa 1985-1988, music that is just vile, fun and powerful. The EP with Cedar Street Sluts that's on the Dirty Love Songs comp is so great. I'd kind of want to read something that takes on GG as a music geek, stealing songs from Destroy All Monsters ("Die When You Die") and some obscure glam band ("Sluts In the City"). I've never seen that. I don't take him very seriously as a philosopher, but he did make cool music once in a while. Look Into My Eyes and Hate Me 7" is really good too.

Pop Punk / Re: Why is Negative Approach on tour with the Casualties?

While the Casualties dude is most likely scum, I wouldn't feel very safe around those two screaming macho dudes with black masks either. I'm glad Brannon seems to be taking it all with brannonesque grace.

I'd much appreciate a hand with Caroliner.

I have militantly strong opinions on this but am interested in others, especially here: BAD RELIGION?

Here's a list of all of their essential albums:

Why don't you like How Could Hell Be Any Worse? It's one of the best west-coast hardcore albums. I'd rate it about as high as Mommy's Little Monster, Damaged, or Group Sex. I'm genuinely curious why you don't like their early stuff. I'll admit that like most bands they've really gone downhill, but I would think most people on here would like their first single and album.

If that's what you're asking, here is the full list of essential Social Distortion albums:

Music Shit / Re: Savages -- I think we're supposed to like them

Somebody posted this in the wrong thread:
http://www.collapseboard.com/reviews/albums-reviews/savages-silence-yourself-pop-noirematador/

I suppose it could go into the muso-crit thread because it is quite overblown in its detailed hatred over a band that at least tries to pull some fairly basic post-punk hoohaw, but really any band that proudly puts out "manifestos" in all caps is obviously trying way too hard.
Rawk oot or git tae fook oot, I always say...

It's also written by the same dude who made a case of Iceage being nazis because someone in the audience was waving his fist in the air during a show. But it does have a few valid points.

The "new" record to me seems to allude to the fact that it will be their last.

Could be, but they were recording new music this summer.

Seems likely in this case.

And yes, my friend writes that Yanka uses the worst profanities in the Russian language. She really stresses this, like it's an important part of the lyrics that she couldn't translate.
