Haha, I took user: P-TNT's advice and changed it to neutral feedback and sent him the money for shipping and another message explaining myself. Thanks.

As for you two...ahh fuck it

I have an advice question for experienced Discogs users.

I just signed up to Discogs at the end of May and the extent of my activity has been slowly cataloging my modest collection. I recieved an email about an item from my want list being available. A three record set that I know usually goes in the $175+ range was going for a $100 VG+/ VG+ so I jumped all over it.

It took two days to get an invoice(it wouldn't let me pay until I got the invoice.) It seems if the email just came about an item in my wantlist the dude would've been online?? I never heard a word from the seller for two full days. I finally get an email that simply said "Seller added $5 for shipping". I paid within 5 min. of getting the invoice. I sent the seller an email two days after that telling him that "I paid for a $100 record set and haven't heard a word from you and the invoice at Discogs is still marked as unpaid. What's going on I need some information." He responded within an hour telling me he's got a lot of orders and he's busy and broke so he's waiting to get paid on Friday and the record will ship by Sat. It didn't ship until Mon. and he sends me an email saying he decided to insure it and it cost more than he expected "I need you to reimburse the the $10.22 difference because I'm broke."

The records came a week later sandwiched between two thin pieces of cardboard with minimal packing tape. Remember this is a three record set in a triple gatefold. They weren't damaged but that's obviously not how you send an expensive record.

Part of me is willing to reimburse the guy for shipping because I know this was a steal and that was actual shipping cost(the shipping cost is on the label) Part of me says that's the stupid tax, stupid. I also want to leave negative feedback but know he'll probably leave negative feedback in return.

My question is this - I only have experience buying and selling on eBay and there is no way a transaction like this would be kosher on eBay. Is Discogs a different animal? Or should I have the same expectations as far as getting contact from the seller, faster shipping time etc? I don't take leaving a seller negative feedback lightly, but this seems warranted. I placed the order 6-1 and didn't get the records until 6-17. Is that normal for a Discogs transaction?

EDIT: Fuck it. By the time I got done typing this all out I was so pissed off I ended up sending an angry message, left negative feedback and didn't reimburse him.
eh?? you sound like a bit of a dick from this.

And you sound like kind of a dick from this.

Well, much of Discogs isn't automated compared to eBay, so you can expect some delays (they will happen). Most sellers follow their sells very closely though and I can't blame the guy for putting the insurance there (except he should have included it in his shipping rules and sent that in the invoice initially). And yeah, you will get some records that are packaged badly, but what can you do. Maybe negative was too harsh and neutral would have sufficed (after all, you did get the record)

To clarify I agreed with the insurance. I will definitely take all this into consideration. Thanks.

Nobody is talking about common standard plastic outer sleeves found at most record stores, genius.

Thanks for clearing that up.

BTW, next time I'll draw a map to the sarcasm for you.

How do you draw a map to sarcasm?  Or is that sarcasm too?

Used to listen to them a lot in my acid taking days. I remember this song in particular being a go to. Liked them up until probably Quebec. The Pod, Pure Guava, the Mollusk and White Pepper are favorites. 12 Golden Country Greats was a cool concept but I couldn't get into it.

Deaner runs a charter fishing boat and Gener went nuts. Or is it the t'other way round?

No plastic sleeve and you get shelf wear and there goes your NM rating. Use plastic sleeves and take a chance ruining your vinyl and there goes the tunes. Why can't they come up with a cheap, reliable more portable medium already? We just care about hearing the music, right??

Kevin Rutmanis' (ex Cows, Melvins) new band hepa/Titus is playing this and will be joined by Shannon Selberg (ex Cows, Heroine Sheiks) for a Cows reunion of sorts. At Grumpy's, Tom Hazelmyer's (H.O.F) club in Mlps.

who fuels all this reunion crap anyway? it seems like the majority of people i know irl and online have a bad taste about reunions so whos feeding the beast? somebodys giving them money and it aint me.

I have a friend who has two kids one a freshman in college the other a sophomore in high school. Both kids are huge into skateboarding and are in bands. You would think it's the late 80s early 90s all over again with the music they listen to and the clothes they wear. Ginn played here at a small shitty club with Good For You in April(?). I was thinking about going but didn't want to find and pay a babysitter.  My friends kids and all their friends went. And that was the crowd, in this small market town anyhow.  High school kids wearing Black Flag and Iron Maiden shirts seeing the legends and getting autographs.

Ramones

An interesting case. Lemmy wrote the "theme song" for two different bands, neither one while actually in that band.

The Konks "29 Fingers"
The Monks "Monk Time"

Meatmen "TSOL are Sissies"

Dis track, different thread.
So you're saying the Meatmen wrote TSOL's theme song for them??

"We're the Meatmen and you suck...Meatmen Stomp!"

btw, Tesco Fest 8-24 in the D

Mississippi John Hurt

I have also been listening to some negro prison recordings lately. Pretty good.
