Non-Music Shit / Re: Booking agents!

Lots of promoters will try to pay you as little as they can get away with. I've played shows where we were third on a 4 band bill, with the door making over $2000, and my band gets $100. Sure, I could put up a big stink, in my hometown, and probably never play that venue again. Or it could be negotiated by someone else ahead of time, we get paid more, and I don't have to deal with any of it.

ive been to the post office 5 times this week. fuuuuuccck

the band im in has a booking guy. Setting stuff up yourself is fairly easy, sure. I'm pretty sure I could book a full US tour myself if I needed to. The bottom line is, yeah, avoiding bullshit. I don't like haggling/answering emails. Hell, I don't even check the bands email account. I work full time, the band isn't a job. If we have to give this guy 10% or whatever of some shows we wouldn't have have played otherwise/been too lazy to book ourselves, fine by me. Agreed that booking agents can be scummy, but I've met plenty of that on the end of show/venue promoters as well. I'd rather not deal with it.

Non-Music Shit / Re: USA to overseas mail prices jumping late-January

again didn't want to start a new thread, but have a ebay/shipping question

some guy in spain bought 40+ records from me on ebay. I'm a little sketched out, he has 29 (all positive) feedback, has been a member since 2010, only 6 of his feedback are recent. He bought over $500 worth of stuff. I understand that the cheapest way is to split this up into packages under 4 lbs. My real question is how to not be accountable in case this is a scam. Paypal usually sides with the buyer, right? What is the cheapest option I can get to track at least some of these packages, to the extent that paypal will side with me in the event of some bullshit?

Didn't want to start a whole thread for this, but I have a shipping question.

I've shipped plenty of records to the US via media mail, printing out my own packing slip (through ebay/paypal). Anytime i've sold records to foreigners, I've filled out custom slips and taken them to the post office, sent them first class international. With my recent batch of ebay auctions, I have 50 + packages to send abroad. Can I just pay for 1st class international via paypal (just like with media mail) and attach the customs form? If so, I just tape the green part only?

I'm expecting somewhere between $4000 and $5000. I definitely could have graded/listed better, but between alphabetizing, taking pictures, naming the pictures, doing some minor research on most records, and half-ass grading, I was a bit overwhelmed. And that was the easy part, now its just sitting around preparing for the onslaught. Gonna take some time off of work next week to deal with it all. Ebay will be taking a shitload of my money. I'm most worried about Europeans not paying for their stuff before the 24th, or at latest 25th, because then I'll have to deal with the new $$$ euro shipping bs.

If anyone has any questions about specific records or needs more pictures, lemme know, I got nothing but time for the next few days.

Big purge time. Lots of doubles I had been saving, some great stuff and some indie drivel, still, theres gonna be something there for you. ALL AUCTIONS START AT $.99.

LPs end sunday, 7"s tuesday night.

got some polarized ray bans (i've never worn sunglasses, it feels and probably looks stupid but is good for bright light hangovers), and some klipsch speakers. I have a damn good record collection and have been listening to everything for the last 2 years on blown speakers, bass to 0. So i've been putting on some faves and have been pretty stoked. Some socks and stuff, regifting some of my more fancy stocking stuffers to a girl I'm seeing. Thanks mom!

mekons are spotty. edge of the world, fear and whiskey, rock n' roll and retreat from memphis all have some great songs though. Unfortunately they also have the songs that sally timms sings.

i'm just started dating a coworker who i met at work (i guess im technically her boss). whatever, we hit it off. besides, we work at a laid back pizza joint. any girlfriend ive had in the last 8 years has ended up working at the pizza shop anyway because i only date poor chicks with no skill sets.
