World Domination Enterprises - Let's Play Domination (Product Inc., 1988) is the first one I'm thinking of. This should definitely be on your list.

Terminal Cheesecake released some pretty cool shit too (but I prefer their 90's records).

Bastard Kestrel, Sink and Sperm Wails had some great tunes.

That's all I can think of now, but there is probably more.

Too bad you'll miss L'Etrange Festival which ends on 15th. Great movie festival (horror/SF and anything weird), Jello Biafra curates one night and there's a Stephen Sayadian special with screenings of Cafe Flesh, Nightdreams & other stuff.

Heading over in late September & haven't booked any place to stay yet ... any recommendations on neighbourhoods/accomodations?

As long as you stay on the eastern part of Paris, I guess you'll be ok. 11th & 18th district are good compromises. You'll be close to almost every club & bar worth paying a visit to, and it also has lotsa touristic spots.

this may not be the place to ask, but here goes:

what clubs or bars are cool in paris for deep, underground house-type sounds?  all i get from online research are the mega-clubs, but i want intimate, dark spaces playing cool stuff, not a bunch of E'd out 18 year olds.  i especially like the slower, spacey beardo stuff like lindstrom, etc.

Check for parties set-up by :

I'M A CLICHE (cool parisian label, they have a residency at La Java, if you're lucky Crackboy will be on the line-up - amazing producer, used to go by the name of Krikor)

IN PARADISUM (another great parisian label but much younger, they have a residency which is held either at La Gaite Lyrique or at La Machine du Moulin Rouge - harder & darker, they book people such as Demdike Stare, Emptyset, Ancient Methods, etc)

GET THE CURSE (another great parisian label, they have a residency at the Rex, dark, cold, minimal & very rough, from Troy Pierce to Veronica Vascika)

You can also keep an eye on bars such as Glass, UDO, the Tiki Lounge & the RedHouse, they all feature cool DJ sets from local labels/bands/radio DJs/journalists, in every style, including electronic/techno stuff, especially at UDO (beware it is VERY small and gets super wild & overcrowded by 11pm/midnight on week ends)

There's also 2 great parties you can check, CONCRETE (every week-end, non-stop from saturday night till monday morning, great line-ups, wild crowd, nice club, but expensive and possibly overcrowded - go there on a sunday morning after breakfast) and DIE NACHT (secret party, you have to subscribe to their mailing list, the adress of the club is revealed only a few days or hours before it starts, usually in unusual places such as closed leisure parks, closed lollipop factories, swiming pool complex set up for destruction, etc)
