I was there... and yeah, those were the conditions. I think they all have their own strengths as songwriters. I'm the most moved by Shepard's work though and Kevyn Kasualty is probably the most under-rated of that crew of friends. I hope to reissue his debut sometime in the next couple of years.

I wonder when people are gonna come around to Ronald Koal and the Trillionaires...

Mike Rep & the Quotas, A Tree Stump Named Desire.  Really interesting record, a nice reminder of what a strong, classic songwriter he is.  There's some weird, noisy fragments, a very nice synth/keyboard drone called "Nautilus," a bunch of covers including an unexpected (and kind of confusing) Bo Diddley tune. 

That was prompted by revisiting the Nudge Squidfish LP over the weekend, which was prompted by N'Rich and Bunkerpop telling me how good it is (it didn't grab me at first).  Changed my mind, it's quite nice.  Almost as great as the Tommy Jay volume.

you shouldve gotten Rich to bust out that stack of Rep/Jay/Nudge cd-rs that no matter how much you beg him to make copies of, he insists they let him have them on the condition that he makes no copies. It is all choice stuff on em, though and apparently, they will be getting proper release eventually.

COMPLETELY off topic here except its about a fairly recent MRR column but Viktor's column in the Sept. 2012 issue mentioned a band called Outpanties in the same paragraph as Husker Du and Mecht Mensch - 2 bands I love. A google search for "Outpanties" revealed nothing but porn and a search for "Outpanties" & "Mecht Mensch" only revealed even creepier porn and a blogged version of the same MRR article. I'm starting to think this band doesnt exist or something. Anybody knows if they arent some made up mythical band caught between Mecht Mensch and Husker Du any info would be much appreciated.

I tend not to dwell on my experiences at school. School is just a shit sandwich that everybody has to eat and peoples stories about school are frankly boring to me. I hate to sound callous but unless you are still in school or just graduated I kinda dont need to here about how tough it was to make it here in the wonderful world of adulthood.
