Saw Run the Jewels described as "MMA gym soundtrack" music, thought it was pretty accurate. Kinda cartoony, amped up bullshit to these ears as well

Been re-reading Mark Prindle's site and going back over some of the stuff I discovered through him. Fearless Iranians From Hell sounding pretty fuckin good right now

Also listened to Nevermind. If there's any old fogies on this board who were already Nirvana fans when it came out i'd be interested to hear how you received it at the time. Taken at face value it looks like a huge sellout next to Bleach

used that site on the reg till my internet turned to shit a couple weeks back

Cool, went ahead and got it.

Haven't been immersed in a show since The Wire last year, just got done wasting my time with Treme but this looks a safe bet

Yeah it's a movie. Milch is in serious shit financially cos of his gambling habit though so who knows what'll happen

Homicide might be my favorite show ever. incredible stuff. I've seen the whole thing through, twice. I wish it was on one of the pirate sites I use cuz I get the urge to watch it all the time. Andre Braugher's acting in the season after Pembleton has a stroke is fucking ridiculous. Did he ever win an Emmy? He should've been given a MacArthur Grant for that shit.

Is there any dips in quality or is it worthwhile all the way through? thinking about snagging the box set

Non-Music Shit / Re: Movies I've been watching

TLADILA is a fucking blast. Sounds like it should be a generic movie on paper but it's weirdly intense and there's so many little flourishes that elevate it...  Peterson and dafoe kill it, the counterfeiting montage, the car chase, dialogue to cherish ("your taste is in your ass", and yeah the soundtrack is crucial

Friedkin's remaking it for TV, I doubt he can recapture the magic but it's good to see dude still doing his thing

Just saw Geto Boys in a 180 cap punk venue. They crushed, even with Bushwick's 10 minute breather outside. Scarface is skinny now and Willie D is the nicest person I've met in 2015. They played no material from their 2004 comeback record, despite the fact that I think "Ho niggas make me hotter than tabasco / play with my money I'm'a kick you in your asshole" and "You can't sow a silk purse out of a sow's ear" are amongst their top 5 lines. BB did crowd surf and rap from a mantle. For all of Charlotte's downsides, this was  a fine note for my coda here.

What am I talking about, I just touched bushwick bill, I will now win any legal case for the rest of my life.

GETO BOYS, GETO BOYS

Pop Punk / Re: Gangster Rap

isnt guy from rural Quebec or something?

Of course there is a lot of boring, ignorant hip hop that is just about talking about (usually fake) crime stories, how many bitches one has or other forms of crass materialism.  There are also a lot of hip hop artists that have a high level of musicality and actually talk about real issues or have real skills.

rapping about guns, girls and making money was pretty much ingrained in hip hop from the start. a lot of the absolute shittiest rappers are the ones that make their main focus rapping about their 'real skills' and how smart and different they are from other "ignorant" rappers. and that's what appeals to super conservative listeners like this mozart guy
