Music Shit / Re: Better than the released version
« on: September 20, 2014, 01:22:09 PM »
Nice, need that 45! I recently bought this, had no idea it existed with this cover. It's a thing of beauty, white vinyl too.

The Ants stuff STILL has not been done properly not even on cd. The record I have had the most offers for on discogs even thought it's not for sale is my copy of Sex People. It will be a dark day if that ever has to go.
I love early Adam & The Ants. What's this "Sex People" release?

The wife might get in to Aus (she's a high-flying accountant). I'm a fricken loser with mental health issues, so no chance. I mentioned Sydney in blissful ignorance just 'cos it's the first place I thought of in connection with the far superior to Scotland these days Aus 'music scene'. (Isn't R.I.P. Society label based there). Brisbane? Home of the striped sunlight sound. That'd do me. Excuse my further ignorance Androo ; do you play in either Three Toed Sloth or Exiles From Clowntown? Both damn fine bands.

The Scottish Independance Referendum is being tipped for a 'NO' vote by the TV 'experts' as I write this. Counts have just started to come in though. The vested UK Elite have been trying to scare the hell out of us that everything will go tits up if we go it alone. If this goes wrong I'll blame Westminster Polticos & media & business lies / English ex-pats + students / the rich & middle class & frightened pensioners & bigoted sectarian Union-Jack waving Orangemen / Rangers supporters...A parcel of rogues indeed. 'Uh! Tears Baby' as Davy Henderson's Win put it.

Speaking as a Rangers fan myself, I voted Yes last night, not for patriotic reasons as I'm not into nationalism at all (I despise all nationalism, no matter what country) but to try to escape Westminster and any future Tory government. Didn't happen, unfortunately.

There's a real good hardcore band in Glasgow at the moment called Clocked Out. Very 9 Shocks Terror. Bar the odd exception, Scotland has a pretty poor record when it comes to punk.

Fuckin' great to hear you're playing Glasgow! Love the new 12" and the previous 7"s. See ya there!

Disaffect- Chained To Mortality

Ha! Totally surprised to see that listed. Saw them countless times in the 90's as I was good friends with them (and a flatmate with 4 of the six members). Great live, but didn't do it for me on vinyl.

Will check out some of those videos.

Scum is one of the most depressing things ever on British telly. The scene with rape of the boy (if i remember right, it was alluded to with noises and the like rather than actually 'seeing' it) always stuck in my mind. Terrifying stuff.

Yeah! Saw this a few months ago in an empty cinema. I thought it was a total blast. Cool soundtrack and feel-good without being anywhere close to being saccharine.

Music Shit / Re: Bl'ast - current tour
« on: June 26, 2014, 12:49:33 PM »
I went to see Bl'ast on Tuesday night.
It was an embarrassingly small turnout in Bristol - they had their work cut out.

They were absolutely monstrous - astoundingly great.

Go and see them on the rest of the tour and see a band as intense in their early 50s as they probably were 30 years ago in their 20s. This is how to do a reformation - where there's still passion, connection and the old fire is still clearly right there. New bassist and drummer were great and totally gelled with that loose-yet-tight thing Bl'ast excelled at. Stunning.

To my ears all the material was form the 1st 2 LPs - only 1 track I didn't recognise.

They deserved a better turn out - they deserved a packed venue. That would have lifted the intensity level through the roof.

They were supposed to play Glasgow tonight. Bought a ticket a few days ago and headed out tonight only to find the venue closed. Seems that they had "van trouble" and had to go to London so they could make it over to mainland Europe. Somehow I doubt this excuse is actually the reality. Maybe I'm being cynical, I don't know...At least the venue is only 5 minutes walk from my place, so I just came home and ate cake instead. I'll go to the ticket place for a refund tomorrow. Would still have loved to have seen them, though. Oh well.

Anyone else still waiting on their guttergods lp from video disease? Three months, no replies to emails. Should I assume this is officially a lost cause?
Hopefully you get it. If I were you, I wouldn't order anything from him again. Pathetic service.

Second this motion. He is a nice guy and will make it up to you, but the wait is often not worth the apologetic action

Same here! Ordered 10 tapes 2 months ago and still nothing. Already sent him a couple of e-mails but no replies whatsoever. I know he's on tour right now (or just got back) but I do hope that he still comes through with the goods.

RIP Fucker sounded excellent to my ears. It's just too bad that Aussie postage is too much to purchase a physical tape. Same goes for the the new SJN-tape. If any Euro distro's would have these 2 for sale, I'd love to hear it!

Gutter Gods LP arrived today via Hardware Records. Eurolanders should pick it up through him. Also ordered the latest Shipwrecked LP with it and that one was a really nice surprise. Extra plus for the fitting production and nice lay-out! It's grim up north!
Could I ask you when you actually made your order with Hardware? Waiting for a package from them at the moment.

He turned up at my old flat that I shared in Glasgow back in the mid-90's. Don't know who gave him our address. He seemed like a pretty nice guy actually.

I second this. Great record from one of the best under the radar labels.
Just ordered it! The bandcamp sounded great.
