Who's this new Terrorist band that Toxic State is putting out?  Anyone know more?

Hank Wood and the Hammerheads lp (NY NY, 2018)

Sounds like mid 90s mediocre garage rock to me

^this.

While I love their new album, I will say their first two albums are probably more appropriate for this thread.

I really want to understand Lavender Flu.  I didn?t really like the first one and I don?t really like the new one either.  It sounds like vanilla garage rock like the dime-a-dozen bands were putting out between 2009 and 2014 (ish).  Then again, I never really understood late period Hunches for the same reason.  Someone help me understand what everyone else is seeing.  Is there a particular song I can try to latch onto?

I?d much rather listen to the new Spider Bags if I?m going for generic indie rock with a garage/country twist.

Sometimes you just can't connect with things that a lot of other people like.  I don't get anything out of the Cowboys, but I get that a lot of people love them.  I think it's pretty safe to say that if you think the later Hunches stuff sounds like vanilla garage rock, Lavender Flu is probably not for you.

I think 'Floating Coffins' was the last one I bought and it was still ok.

Agree with this, though I've taken a chance on buying a few albums since then yet none of them really did anything for me.

Been listening to these Naked Diza Star volumes 1-3 that Les Rallizes Denudes put out.  I know people say they get bored of their output, but I can't ever seem to get enough.

Update: I heard from homie today -- he just received the repress, labels are printing and records should go out next week.  Rejoice!

I don't really think anyone has complained since that news surfaced. It's a terrible situation and I could imagine myself putting everything on hold while grieving and mentally working things out.

What's happening here is people staying in touch about whether they've received the record or not. So, while it's very valiant of you to jump in and play moral police calling people indecent, it's not really applicable here. No one is angry -- just checking in for updates.

Has anybody talked to homeboy at Siltbreeze? I'm wondering if he's just having a hard time handling Yuzo's passing. I've been completely ghosted, but I totally understand if he feels bad selling the record posthumously. Such a shitty situation all around. R.I.P. to an underappreciated legend.

(they seem to get better as they go, somehow)

Agreed.  "Reality is a Grape" and "Walk Into the Sea" might be my two favorites.

On a sidenote, I wish there was some kind of expanded reissue for "Bats in the Dead Trees."

Not sure if anyone mentioned this S-21 band, but I'm enjoying it:

I love that Dawn of Humans is hailed as the Gaza Strip of punk. Maybe a DoH show turned some of those homophobic chain core dudes into more open minded punks! Haha.

I'm digging the new Lavender Flu. Love the steel guitar on it.

Seconded.  After the dream-like sprawl of Heavy Air, I was a bit taken aback by how focused and concise it is.  I pre-ordered the record but haven't got it yet so am not sure how it's broken up, but streaming it just brings hit after hit.  It seems like this might be a record that really gets a lot of attention.  Regardless, I'm really stoked to see them next week.

Yeah, digging this quite a bit.

Enough that I feel like I should go back to that drag-ass first record and see if it hits me different in light of - I just could not deal the first time around but maybe time and space and good weed etc.

Loving the new album. Got to see them last night and it was even better live which I wasn't expecting. Homie reminded me why he's my favorite guitarist.

I think if it weren't for the associated art (and artists) of SY, I may have never cared to listen to more than a couple minutes. I spent 5 years searching for a sound in SY that never quite materialized throughout their discography.

With that said, I should try Sister again. But there will probably always be a soft spot in my heart for Daydream Nation and portions of Goo.

Went back and listened to the Whines LP this morning.  It was better than I remembered.  I always think of the melody of the first track (which I'm not a huge fan of) when I think of that album, so it was nice to revisit and find it still very enjoyable.
