OK...

I know where this comes from.
All I'll say is that it's too bad doing this (even if it's a solid compilation) as a bootleg when some info and contacts for some artist are available if you ask to your friends... friends who (as you know) reissued some of the featured artists legally, doing a very serious work on those with stories, history and a lot of music.

... Just saying.
...except clearing rights / legalities on such an array of obscurities would likely be impossible or take forever, rendering the comp non-existant. Hey, if it's a success I'm sure someone like Soul Jazz will step in to do this properly in 10 years or so. (As far as I am aware Nixe are the only ones to be reissued 'officially', but I am an ignorant bastard.)

Thanks to KBD / Bloodstains et al (or 'Pebbles' / 'Everywhere Chainsaw' / 'Chocolate Soup For Diabetics') doing pioneering work and stimulating interest, we've had many fantastic official reissues.

If you guys are getting rid of all your boots at reasonable prices, give me a PM.

But hey, instead of fussung about all this old stuff, why not check out Lime Crush or Badaboum?

Music Shit / Re: RIP Lemmy
« on: December 30, 2015, 06:26:51 AM »
Never saw Motorhead live, or bought any of their records (got some of his Hawkwind action though), but I always liked the fact he was there and what he embodied. The rock and roll lifestyle in excelsis and his no bullshit integrity. Turns out he was just a few months younger than my Dad (battling his own advanced incurable cancer). I hadn't realised that. He woulda got on great with a hard drinking / living mofo like Lemmy, I'm sure.

Agreed on the 'lifestyle' comments above. Must piss off the health fascists that you can live a life like that and die at 70 from something completely unrelated.

Stars Of Heaven "Sacred Heart Hotel"

Ditto re Stranglers.

E&TBM "Ocean Rain" sounded great last week for some reason. Pete de Freitas playing the drums with brushes esp.

Associates "The Affectionate Punch".

Bowie "The Gospel Accordiing To Tony Day" / "Letter From Hermione" / "Lady Grinning Soul".

Kinks "Stop Your Sobbing"

Husker Du "Books About UFO's" (jeez, after all I said about them being boring!)

Is that Vapors lp tbe guys who did "Turning Japanese"? That sucks. Suggest a good track and I'll youtube it.

They posted some shit 'bout them fixing this prob with the cart.
tbh, I'd be happy with just the download for the tape, to get the extra tracks not on the two 7" (which I have). Bandcamp's good for that kinda stuff. How many extra tracks are there?
(The badge looks nice though.)

Uh, ok, thanks...

Watching rolling news coverage of the events in Paris. Police assault on Bataclan is over. Reports of 100 dead inside.

This is fucking terrible. How much longer do we have to share our cities and streets with these cunts? This is a war on our way of life; music venues; bars; restaurants; sports stadiums; people out enjoying themselves on a Friday night.

The Paris authorities should level every fucking Mosque in the city by Monday at the latest in retaliation.

Loved the French ban on the Nikab (veil). The French have balls

Over to you, Liberals...

lydon deadpans it on the first PIL album. can't remember if its before 'religion' or after "theme' or somewhere else cause i haven't played it in forever, but i know its on there somewhere...thats where i first heard it anyway

Yes, this was my initial guess on the source as well.
Me too. Then I remembered the Crime song. Lydon would've coined the phrase first though(?). Impossible to research now (thanks to this Board!).

Missed The Ex when they played Edinburgh recently. (I miss lots of shows coz I'm old and lazy, but that day was just back from hols, decided to crash in bed for a couple hours before heading up there, but slept through to the next morning. Knew I should've just gone straight out drinking. Prob be a lifetime regret if the opportunity doesn't come up again. So anyway, enjoy everybody, can't see how they won't be great.)

Just playing the Ego Summit LP. At this moment it sounds like the greatest album ever recorded. Perfect crunchy nihilism. Music to get fucked up on a nice malt to. Do I need an OG lp if I've only got the reish?

Earlier  various Nothing People rekkids. Still sound great. Are they forgotten around here?

Even earlier the new Bitter Springs album "Cuttlefish And Love's Remains". On a par with Sleaford Mods when it comes to describing the sick underbelly of austerity UK. Simon Rivers is one of thee greats. He should make a record with Russell Walker or Melchior "stream of conscious" / "off the cuff" style. Just jam it straight to tape.

Saw Sleaford Mods last week. Oustanding intensity. In-Capacity mental all ages crowd. "Jobseeker" was greeted like "Anarchy In The UK" or "White Riot" and was just as sheer adrenalin lightning in a bottle magic. (I might have been the only one that cheered for "Tarantula Deadly Cargo", but then I am a man of exquisite taste.)

Also, Lawrence Go-Kart Mozart - can't stop playing "Retro Glancing" (vicious hatred; if you throw darts in lovers eyes to the strains of the Pistols "Bodies", you will appreciate) and "Spunky Axe" (uber catchy Glam pop).

& Westerberg "Crackle & Drag" (Original Take). Again and again. know the feelings around here for anything after "Let It Be", but - fuck you - this is as good as anything he ever did, do or done.

& David Kenneth Nance. Just thought he should get a mention around here. I dig quite a lot.

Fookin ell , you wouldn't want to  come around here looking for encouragement would you? Keep doing your thing GGG, you might get good somewhere down the line. ANYTHING iz possible.
As for weiner i've never heard of them, but $1.75 per tape doesn't sound like a bad deal to me if you've got better things to do than sit around at home dubbing tapes for hours on end (and probably fucking it up anyway). I don't tbh, but some people might have.
Jerry, the song you almost re-wrote in your last post is "Common People" by Pulp. It should become the National Anthem of class-ridden stinky old England (when Scotland wises up and goes it alone). But it isn't about MTV Vjays (for the most part, anyhow). William Shatner's version is better though. Despite the presence of Ben Folds.

I really love the new Broke Revue record too. I guess it is a sign of my age that most of my favorite new records that come out are by older artists. CBeside that new Melchior, the new Don Howland is fucking phenomenal. The slide riff on the first song, the organ that is peppered throughout. A couple of moody songs, some rockers and an instrumental. Listened to it twice in a row today. Really hitting the spot. My only gripe is I really wish a lyric sheet was included.

Just got the Totenkopf in the mail about an hour ago and spun it quick like. Fucking crazy man. Those Frenchies were nuts. Need more digestion time to come up with anything more coherent, but it's nice.
I definitely want to check out the new Don Howland. This is a crazy moment when new/recent releases are piling up in terms of my wants list. How many records are coming out on 30 October for a start? Is that the last big release date before Christmas or something? Will probably manage to afford a fraction of what I want. Still got to catch up with Mike Rep "Derby Creek Drifter". Love all those Ego Summit guys. How'd you rate the Burning Bush / Bus 7"-ers? Been meaning to order some stuff direct from Don himself on Discogs for a while.
(Better sign off. Just back from the pub (drunk), been drinking Guiness and Aberlour 10yr old whiskey. My fingers feel like carrots. My Dad's got the cancer. He's a major Edinburgh character. Seems to know folks everywhere we go. Took a major downturn after recent Chemotherapy. Can't even enjoy a pint of beer or food anymore. Still makes it to the Hibernian matches on his crutches. Bravest man I've ever known. So fucking proud of him. Breaks my heart. Fuck knows how you Americans do this without our NHS. Fuck knows what I'll do without him.)
Thanks for putting up with me here. Sure I'd have been blocked by lesser boards for some of the stoopid shit I've said. Feels like home somehow. Cheers guys.

Bought the Nasty Facts boot today. Haven't listened to it yet. It better not sound like shit.

Also picked up the first Monochrome Set album and the first Chris D./Divine Horsemen LP from '84 on the cheap.

Yesterday I snagged Subway Sect's "Ambition" 45 at a perfectly respectable price (from my angle). Some other stuff too.

Haven't listened to any of that yet. Why am I even posting in this thread?
Props on the SS aquisition. I'd boost all Vic's stuff tbh (even the swing stuff), but 'you may also like' the underrated 1980 'banger' "Split Up The Money" 7" from the "What's The Matter Boy" LP. Real nice sleeve too. Whatever folks say about Bernie Rhodes, he had an eye for talent. Aside from the Clash, he had Vic, Specials and Dexys under his wing at that time.

Just playing the new Dan Melchior "Lords Of The Manor" album. Sounds great, obviously the guitar playing is getting a lot of attention here, but what does it for me every time are Dan's vocals. When I first heard him ("Christmas For The Crows") he reminded me quite strikingly of Vic Godard. Same thing with George D. Henderson of The Puddle. But after years working my way backwards and forwards through his catalog he just sounds uniquely Dan. He can do this type of stuff and the more introspective "Backwards Path" stuff equally well.

I've had the same 'vox' thing through the years with vocalists who initially reminded me of Lou Reed - Gordon Gano, Lawrence, Steve Wynn for example - but who, through familiarity, became their own distinctive presence. Kevin Rowland is probably 50/50 Van Morrison and Bryan Ferry in inspiration but I couldn't mistake him for anyone else.

Also, the new Penetration "Resolution" album, just out today. Dunno if I could whole-heartedly recommend it, very shiny production to my ears - they've clearly invested in some studio time - possibly some "offensive" lead guitars (the same with "Coming Up For Air" waay back though), but there are some good songs on here, esp. "Beat Goes On" & "The Feeling". Pauline Murray is still in great voice. Saw them play a totally ace giig in Perth a few years back, hence taking a chance on ze newie. If you get a chance, go see 'em.

And Connections "Private Airplane" LP. Perfect record. Songs, production, everything. Love it even more as time goes by.

Pop Punk / Re: Cuntroversy
« on: October 07, 2015, 10:13:20 AM »
If you were out for the night with your mates, getting blaggered, it would be perfectly normal to refer to your whole group as a "jolly bunch of cunts".

That's brilliant. Is that a joke? Blaggered does not exist as a word but unfortunately blagger does;

blagger. A derogatory term used to mock and humiliate a white person. The N word for white people

I'll be sure to tell my 'jolly bunch of cunts' next time I see 'em. ( I have never heard anyone use the term jolly without being sarcastic in my entire life, apart from on American sitcoms)

As for Cuntz they haven't even spelt it right have they. It's far from offensive but to correct you again the use of cunt in the uk; It's the worst word you can use especially in female company. If I was out on the pull I wouldn't be using cunt as part of my chat up routine.
"Dear Boss
The next job I do I shall clip the CUNTZ ears off and send to the police officers just for jolly wouldn't you. Keep this letter back till I do a bit more work, then give it out straight. My knife's so nice and sharp I want to get to work right away if I get a chance. Good Luck.
Yours truly
