Andy Human and the Reptoids--Psychic Sidekick (Total Punk LP).
"Post-punk trio from Oakland who bring many things to my mind: Devo, Dancing Cigarettes, Red Krayola, Wire, Uranium Club, Bonzo Dog Band (I?m weird). But hey, that?s just me--they sound like themselves. This is their second LP following a self-titled debut in 2015. Plus several 7-inch releases in between. ?Fissures? opens it up with a joyous declaration of alienated purpose: ?life in the cracks/that?s where I?m at/life in the fissures/life in the fissures.? Looking for meaning in the nooks ?n crannies of modern life. The title track works up a bit of psych swirl among the angles. And ?Echo Pedal? references guitar efx as a metaphor for the daily struggle. Dig the electronics. The banging piano and glam-chuggin? rhythms on ?Cul de Sac? are like low-rent Roxy Music--or would that be Oklahoma proto-punkers Debris'?! ?A Void? could be their new-wave dance hit--or something like that. ?Thrust of History? and ?You Like Your Job? have a Gang of Four vibe, although not as heavy. And there?s more. First-rate stuff--nice to hear a modern post-punk thing that doesn?t also veer into hardcore territory. They have a pretty unique thing goin?. "After three albums in 2016/2017, this German duo with the unlikely band name delivers a short, very effective punch to the head. "Underground Agent" opens it up with clanging keyboard-driven ooze that sounds like Skull Cult playing a Butthole Surfers song. These guys have always sounded English to me, and "Overtime I" is a perfect knock-off of '78 UK punk--it would be perfect next to Small Wonder bands like Puncture and Menace. "Gasmaskfactory II" is similar but adds some nice woozy feedback. Maybe a little Fall in there? "Schweinebastard" has hammering industrial keyboards, strangle-stutter vocals, and Ramones-like rhythmic drive. This record is an excellent thing. I always thought punk was usually best delivered in single or EP form. Yep."- Eddie Flowers (Vulcher)

Vulgar (Human Eye/Clone Defects/Timmy's Organism mastermind) wrote, recorded and played all the instruments on ?Music From The Other Side Of The Swamp?, a 15 song exploration into the deepest crevices of his chromed cranium. An acutely personal and raw album showcasing elements of his previous projects while adding some new motifs to his arsenal. Psychedelic crooners, kraut influenced instrumentals, and guitar heavy rockers all processed through Timmy?s patented caveman via space alien filter. Following three of the most essential punk albums of the last few years, they are back with this brand new EP and a clear indicator that they have yet to hit cruising altitude. From the adderal freakout needle jumper 'Underground Agent' to the club thumpin punk bumper 'Schweinebastard' this record is an absolute scorcher.
