i saw pere ubu in 2007 in belgrade. david and steve where at it back then too,  which resulted with steve storming off stage, after a good 80 minutes of gig time. fair enough. i wondered if it was a gimmick so they don't do one more anchor, even if it was i didn't mind it. it was a great gig.

the band at the time was:

michele temple - bass
keith moline - guitar
robert wheeler - synth, theremin
steve mehlman - drums

Good LP on Avant! records too. But I wouldn't call it synthpop.

you're probably right. it's more of a minimal wave new wave minimal synth post punk synth punk post punk electronic that sounds kinda poppy.
then i guess rutabowa listed all of the DIY punk band people that did synthpop. bummer for him.
